Marley was a little skeptical about this. But she promised Ryder. So here's what happened, a couple of days ago Ryder came into the learning center and basically begged her to help him with his work. She agreed to help him in exchange for leaving her best friend and his half brother Jake alone. He really hoped that he would keep his promise. She didn't even know why she was doing this. What's in it for her? There are also so many risks. What if Jake found out? What if his girlfriend, Kitty found out? Things might get crazy. She checked her phone and it said 7:30. He was supposed to be there 30 minutes ago. She was just about to pack up stuff from her table at the dock just as she saw Ryder running up to her.
He starts to breathe really heavy and says "Sorry, I was a little late."
She says "A little? You're 30 minutes late! What were you doing?"
He says "Calm down, Marls. I was just getting us some breakfast."
He puts out a box of cracker jacks and I just stare at him.
"Firstly, don't ever and I mean ever call me Marls. That's a nickname and nicknames are what friends give you and you and I are not friends. Second, cracker jacks are not food, let alone breakfast."
"Wow, Marls we're not friends? I thought we were? Get that stick out of your butt and just eat the cracker jacks."
I gasped and said "I don't have a stick up my butt! Fine." I took and box and he took his and for the prize inside I got a whistle.
He opened his box and he got a little beaded bracelet. He smiled and said "It's for you."
I pointed to myself and said "Me?"
He made me stick out my arm and put the bracelet on me. He winked and said "Don't say I never gave you anything."
I blushed and had to snap out of it. Ryder was good looking but unavailable because he's Jake worst enemy. I said "Do you see this book? This is me and I am math. And math don't care that you're Mr. Bigshot Ryder Lynn, who scores all the touchdowns."
He chuckles and says "Firstly I don't play football, I play basketball and second does English care because I suck at that too."
I laugh and say "Let's just back to work, you dork."
He says "Yeah, I'm the dork? What about you Miss. Math don't care?"
We start laughing and I say "Now we really have to get to work."
