Nyota had grown up hearing about how wretched the first few months with a newborn could be, and yes, she definitely remembered how exhausted her aunt looked for the first two months of her baby cousin's life. But she also remembered how calm the older woman seemed when she held the infant, danced around a room with him.

It was that kind of calm she experienced when she and Spock brought baby Amanda home.

Okay, maybe not that calm exactly.

Ny was still beyond exhausted, but as she sat in bed with their child nestled in her arms, she couldn't help but smile.

"She has your eyes." Spock noted, gazing down at the sleeping infant with his own little smile.

"And your ears." Nyota chuckled, resting against her husband weakly. "I bet she'll be just as intelligent as her father."

Spock seemed to contemplate this for a moment, threading his fingers through his wife's hair, twirling the black strands around slender digits. "Or perhaps she'll have your gift for language."

A calm silence settled over the pair, Spock's eyes glued to his daughter, Nyota's head resting against his shoulder, thumb rubbing small circles into Amanda's caramel coloured shoulder.

Eventually it was time for everyone to go to bed and Spock lifted the infant from her mother's arms. When Nyota moved to follow him, though, he gave her a look with a very clear message: to lie down, relax, he could handle this.

Of course he could handle it, he was Spock, still she found herself having a hard time letting him handle it—that's maternal instinct for you. In the end she let him take their child to the nursery, all the baby monitors already on, and when he returned she pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"Love you."

"And I you."

Exhausted though she was the raven haired woman smirked, a devilish idea forming at the back of her mind.

"Hey, Spock?"

"Hm?"

"Have you ever heard of the tickle monster?"

"Tickle monster? Starfleet has no record of such a creature—"

In an instant Nyota found herself straddling Spock, fingers darting to and fro, fingers dancing over known ticklish spots on her Vulcan lover. At first he'd objected, but that was quickly drowned out by highly illogical giggles, and the most adorable green blush.
