"Ara."
"No!"
"Ara."
"I won't leave you!"
"The ship is sinking, let me go!"
Add sighed.
"What's the point of prolonging the inevitable?"
"You...You always think of something!"
"Yes, yes I do."
"Then think of something now! Your dynamos! Can't you fly with them?"
"They don't work well in water, you dunce..."
"But...You always find a solution...That's who you are!"
He gave a bitter chuckle.
"Yes, always."
"There's enough room on this plank!"
"It'll sink if the both of us use it."
"Add...Please!"
"Why do you keep trying?"
"Because...Because you're an important member of the team..."
To that, he gave a raucous full blown cackle.
"Important? My value has been zero since day one! I don't even hang out with anybody except you! Why do you think I act so standoffish? I hate them all!"
Ara seemed taken aback, but she pressed on.
"That's not true! If you did hate them all...Why would you stick around? Do you hate me too?"
Tears welled up, but they were washed away with the waves.
"No. No I don't."
"What am I to you, Add?"
"..."
"You know I can see right through you..."
"Oh please, you're clumsy and completely dense."
"I can see your sensitive side and insecurities. You only show them to me."
"..."
"Add...You know why...I look out for you so much."
Her voice faltered. The ocean waves were beginning to eat away at her soul. Add knew should this prolong, she'd succumb to the hypothermia. Her eyelids slowly drooped, and her head rested on his shoulder.
"Add...No...Edward...Please don't go..."
He raised her up onto the plank, laying her so that her body was in a comfortable position.
"I'll be back quick, alright. I need to get my dynamos, they're probably floating around somewhere. Stay put."
Too tired and cold to respond, she merely nodded. He gently pushed her away, and watched the plank drift off. Hopefully someone would find her.
"You know I could never return your feelings, Ara. It's who I am."
With that, he joined his mother on the other side.
