Labyrinth: A New Champion

Crack: The window panes shattered violently as another thunder crack went off. Sitting at my computer desk, I look up from checking the point standings on the last horse show and out of my window. Storms were common this time of year, but this one was by far the worst we've had in a long time. Oh great, the rings are going too flood

"Caeley", my mother calls softly up the stairs.

"Yeah mom", I answer back

"Can you come down here, your father and I need to speak with you,"

"What do you need to talk to me about?"

"Can you just come down here," Sarah said with a note of inpatients.

"Fine," I said with a sigh.

Getting up I walk over towards the open door of the bedroom, out into the hallway and down the second floor stairs. Reaching the bottom I turn and head into the parlor, where my mother and father are sitting.

"So what's this about, I was in the middle of something," I said taking a seat by the fire.

"Well your father and I have been talking about it and we decide that all three of us are going to the family reunion at my parents' house."

It took a while for it to sink in but then I jumped out of my seat crying no, there is no way in hell that I am going to another one of the stupid reunions again!

"Caeley, you will watch your language, I will not stand to hear you uttering any of foul language while we are there," Sarah snapped, pretending not to hear my comment about not going.

I looked to my father for support.

"Caeley, we are going, you haven't seen your Grandparents, cousins or Aunts and Uncles in three years," he told me softly

"But the last horse show before the finals are coming and I really need to practice. This show decides who gets into the finals and who doesn't. Anyways I always get stuck having to watch all the brats while you guys go off and have a good time. Last reunion that little brat of Uncle Toby's put gum in my hair and Aunt Eve told me that I probably just put my hand in some and ran it threw my hair."

"I know that he's not perfect, but you aren't either, remember what you did to start all that fighting between you too?" He said.

"Yes and besides that wasn't my fault" I replied, obstinate.

What happened was, was that we were walking back from the beach to go dinner and Jacob wouldn't stop crying because he wanted my 21 year old cousin to get down on her hands and knees and crawl around like a crab he had seen. She had said no and told him his cousin Caeley would do it. So he went to me all winy and I told him to stop winning and he threatened my saying that he would throw sand in his face and blame it on me if I wouldn't do what he told me to do. Me being a person who doesn't like being told what to do walked away only to hear him screaming saying the cousin Caeley threw sand in his face. Of course all the adults turned back around and ran to help him. After he told them what didn't happen they ganged up on me and I was sent back to the hotel room to stay there for the rest of the evening missing dinner and all the cute guys that had been there.

"No matter what you say we are leaving on Saturday, so make sure your packed on Friday evening," my mother said while getting up from her seat next to my father. And with that she left the room with me giving her an icy look.
