As I reached my rival as he stood there in the Devil's Triangle I could see something next to him. It was a wooden chest carved with smoothed out vines that curled over the ebony surface of which took the place of no personal pride. I could sense it's presence was much greater then my own, the carver of the chest must have carved the very being that he was made from to inspire his own purpose of will. "Will there be another tomorrow so I can find my reason for living on?" Is what I wished to ask. But still, who would I have asked it to? My rival spotted me on my own vessel of choice and frowned at me.
"What are you in search for? Why are you here?"
He asked me in a tone that condoned many things that I protested against. He was my opposite when it came to the entirety of human interest and yet he stood there without hesitation in his speech.
"I came for the box that sits nearby you, I say"
That was my simple answer. As plainly and blandly as I could put it.
"It's not yours, but you may keep it if you can wait for me to reach you."
I agreed seeing him smirking at me with something in his eyes that told me that I'd asked for trouble at the instant. My crew set anchor and waited until my rival's ship would at last reach me, but when he finally did half my crew had mysteriously starved to death. There was plenty of food on this rather large vessel so my understanding was at it's limits. The other boat docked next to ours and with a thud the chest was thrown onto the ship's deck. My rival turned his back on me and left quickly. I had no time to protest or ask questions. I looked down at my prize, the magic box of Abrafo in awe. I knelt before it and opened it and something dark came from it grabbing my whole being. It dragged me into a fiery lake that was white with heat for the eternity that I'd chosen was…..
The End
