There was blood.
So much blood.
No not him! Anyone but him!
Sasuke crouched in front of Naruto's bloodied and beat up form. He'd come too late. Blood seeped into his clothes, but he didn't care. He just held Naruto close. Feeling the warmth slowly fade from his skin.
Please he can't die. Give him my life. He can have it. Just don't let him die!
"Someone help him!" Sasuke screamed to the sky.
"Alright." Answered a distant voice.
"What?" Sasuke asked the voice.
"But for him to live you must die in his place. That is the price."
"Fine, just save him!" Sasuke screamed.
"Does he really mean that much to you that you would give your life for his?" The voice asked softly.
"Yes! Save him God damn you!"
The voice sighted softly "Kit chose well."
And with that everything went black.
"Sasuke." A far off voice whispered.
"Please wake up."
"You can't die… I love you…Don't leave me again."
"Naruto." Sasuke mumbled faintly. The bright light from the window momentarily blinding him as he opened his eyes.
"Thank God!" Naruto screamed, pulling Sasuke into a tight embrace.
Sasuke just sat there a moment enjoying the feel of Naruto holding him.
"What happened?" He asked when Naruto pulled back.
"I don't know. I was attacked and fell unconscious. When I woke up Kyuu had healed my wounds and you were knocked out beside me."
"Who's Kyuu?"
"Kyuu is what I call Kyuubi."
"SO she can heal you!" Sasuke asked, sounding suddenly angry.
"Yeah." Naruto muttered softly.
"Very easily."
"Without someone dying to do so?"
"Yeah." Naruto said in confusion.
"Why?"
Sasuke blushed a little. Mere hours before he had offered to give his life for the boy in front of him. He had accepted death so that Naruto would live.
"Never mind Dope."
Then suddenly remembering something Sasuke blushed heatedly.
"What's wrong Sasuke? You look all red. Are you okay?"
"No I just remembered this weird dream I had where you said you loved me"
This time Naruto blushed.
"That wasn't a dream Sasuke. I do really love you. I have since before you left for. I just never had the courage to tell you because I thought you'd hate me."
Sasuke felt himself smile brightly.
"I love you too Dope. Enough that I'd die for you without a second thought. I must be crazy."
With that he leaned forward and gently kissed the surprised blond with all the love he'd been hiding all these years.
Naruto smiled into the kiss as a voice in his head whispered softly.
"He passed my test Kit .I think you two will be very happy together. You deserve to be happy."
"Thanks Kyuu. I'm glad you approve."
With that Naruto gave himself completely to the kiss.
Whether he deserved it or not he was happy and as long as he had Sasuke he knew he always would be.
