Chapter One
Bella's point of view
It was a great day outside, the sun shining, but with just enough clouds to block it out. It was pretty warm, and having lived in Forks, Washington for almost two years, that is a presant from above. It made it all better that my angel, my one true love, my Edward was sitting across from me. It was a Monday, and we were inside eating lunch.
"Bella," he says, "Im not going to be here the rest of this week, love. After I drop you off at home today, I need to go to Dartmouth and set up my dorm for collage."
"What? I cant go with you," I asked.
"No, you forget, I have been to high school tons of times. Besides, you have an exam later this week. You know, the one in science?"
"What, so you are too smart to take it?
"No, love. I just…have stuff to do. But I will be back next week. Hmm, the bell is about to ring. I will see you after school. I love you." And with that, Edward leaned down and kissed me long and softly on my lips.
When I pulled away, I was stunned for almost a solid minuet befire I could respond. He was already starting to walk away, but I whispered,"I love you, see you later…" From the look on his face, his special crooked smile, I could tell he heard me.
My last few periods were boring, and I didn't see Edward the rest of the day. I was almost scared he ditched me. When I walked around the corner to his car, I saw I was far from wrong. He had pulled his car up to the building to pick me up.
I stopped in my tracks-seeing him still make me feel so bad, because he looked like a god compared to me-and he said,"Are you going to get in the car? We have plenty time to stare at each other different times."
I started walking again after I realized I had even stopped, and we drove to my house. My dad, Charlie, wasn't home yet, so Edward decided he would stay for a while. He parked the car, and we got out and were on the process of walking home when Edward stopped dead in his tracks.
"Whats wrong, Edward," I asked.
"Jacob." He doesn't really like him very much.
You see, Edward is a vampire, and Jacob is a werewolf. They were mortal enemies, which tares me in half, seeing as how they were my best friends.
Edward got in his car, said I love you, then zoomed out before Jacob was half down the road.
