AvDrab No. 3: Ponytail.

"Aang, come on! How long does it take to get a pot of water?" Katara asked annoyed.

In the small forest clearing the trio had decided to set up camp in, a little fire burned excitedly, weak sparks flying in every direction as the flames started to eat up the wood. Sokka had found some rock-shaped nuts and berries to eat, and Katara had discovered manysmall river crabs scurrying around the slow-moving stream that flowed beside the camp. This was going to be a good night for dinner.

"Yeah, Aang! I'm starving" moaned Sokka, eying the crustaceans Katara had caught.

"Okay, okay, just a minute, guys." said Aang, looking over his shoulder as he spoke.

He centered himself, spreading his legs apart and placing his hands gently in front of him. He figured now was as good a time as any to practice Waterbending.

He closed his eyes and dove forward a little bit, letting his body move fluidly in and out, back and forth as he handled the water. His arms moved in large circles as he spread the water above his head. The liquid shot up neatly from the peaceful stream and into the small metal pot in a thin, trickling line.

Aang smiled in Katara's direction, and opened his eyes. The water had went directly into the pot, no spills, no dripping at all.

"Katara, did you see that? Wasn't that great?"

"Yeah, Aang. Nice job! Real nice!" Katara replied happily. It made her glad to see her teaching put into good use.

Aang puffed out his chest a bit and bended a clear blue sphere of water into his palms. He closed his eyes again and made it rotate between his hands.

"Yeah, I think I've pretty much got all of this Waterbending stuff down now," he said boastfully.

Katara rolled her eyes to the sky and smiled, mouth closed. She shook her head a little and poked the fire with a stick. Still grinning gleefully, Aang opened his eyes.

"AUGH!"

Katara whipped around so fast her braid slapped Sokka in the face. She completely ignored his 'Oww!' and ran towards Aang, almost at a panic.

"Aang! Aang! What happened!"

The Avatar was propped up on his forearms, flat on his backin the shallow stream, spitting water out of his mouth in short bursts, breathing sharply.

"Something in the water I was holding! Some kind of animal or something! I don't know!" he said hotly, cheeks turning a light shade of pink.

Katara lightly trotted to where Aang had been standing before. She looked down at the grass.

"Oh, my...!" She grimaced, eyes widening and her nose wrinkling.

She bent down and gingerly picked up a red ribbon.

A red ribbon that held together a long black ponytail, water dripping from it's curled tip.

Even from twenty feet away, she could still hear Sokka's remark at the strange discovery.

"Eeewwww!"
