Max P.O.V I was just sitting in my stuffy little cage when I heard them enter. The door opened with a screech and the light shining into the dark room almost blinded me. That's when I started to hear the squeak of the wheels rolling across the floor. I knew immediately that another poor child had just entered the school. Of course they had to wheel his cage right in front of mine so I had the luck of seeing what they did to another kid. I expected something horrible and was surprised to see that it was another bird kid just about the same age as me. He looked up at me and for a moment we were staring into each others eyes. He looked strong and fearless almost unaffected by what had happened to him. I knew right away we could get along...if we wanted to. We might even be able to find a way to escape together. As I was thinking all of this the whitecoats walked out of the room and shut the door behind them the room was again filled with darkness and I heard them lock the door. That noise had always met no escape for me but that was when I was alone. Now I might have a partner.
