AN: Seriously angsty fic. Well, I've been reading many Martin/Rose
fics lately, and it just came pouring out. Hope you cry lots. :)

~Even Angels Fall~

You found hope, you found faith.
Found how fast she can take it away.
Found true love, lost your heart.
Now you don't know who you are.

Martin the Warrior trudged onward, not knowing where he was going,
not caring. He was beyond caring. Ever since the death of Rose,
he hadn't cared. He hadn't cared for anything except mourning her.

She made it easy, made it free.
Made you hurt till you couldn't see.
Sometimes it stops, sometimes it flows.
But baby, that is how loves goes.

When she had died, a part of him had died. During his recovery at
Pollekin's home, he hadn't gone a single moment without thinking of
her. Her eyes, as beautiful as stars. Her voice, that of an angel.
Her kindness, rivaled by none. Even thoughts of other things, such
as Felldoh, brought more tears and more memories of her.

You will fly and, you will crawl,
God knows even angels fall.
No such thing as you, lost it all.
God knows even angels fall.

Now he felt like an empty shell. He didn't have much to live for,
except defend those he came across. He had left his friends behind,
tried and failed to leave his pain, and his guilt behind with them.

It's a secret, no one tells.
One days its heaven, one day its hell.
And its no fairytale, take it from me.
That's the way its supposed to be.

What had he told Urran Voh? "I will take far greater care of her
than for myself." He almost felt like snorting. Right, Martin. Look
how well you defended her. He had wanted to go to Noonvale, to grieve
for Rose with her family, but the threat of more pain was too great.

You will fly and, you will crawl,
God knows even angels fall.
No such thing as you, lost it all.
God knows even angels fall.

But, oh, how wonderful that last day at Noonvale had been! Martin let
his mind drift back in time. The feasting, the meeting with Rose's parents,
uprooting that huge tree, the determination in Rose's eyes to go with
Martin. But that too, brought a tear to Martin's eye. "Why, Rose, why?"

You'll laugh, you'll cry, no one knows why,
but oh the thrill of it all.
Your on the ride you might as well,
open your eyes.

Suddenly Martin's grief boiled over, and he sat by a stream and wept. He
wept for Rose, for Felldoh, for Brome and for himself. He let all his
energy and emotion pour into the rivers. He sat, rocking back and forth,
hugging himself, just crying. After a while, he stopped rocking, wiped
his eyes, and stood up. He leaned heavily on his sword for support.

You will fly and, you will crawl,
God knows even angels fall.
No such thing as you, lost it all.
God knows even angels fall.

Martin began trudging forward again. There was a whole day ahead of
him, and he couldn't spend the whole day of it at the streambed. He
dearly wished there were creatures up ahead, perhaps at that castle
like building ahead of him that reminded Martin of Marshank. Until
he got there, though, he would be left by himself with just his
thoughts and Rose.

Even angels fall.

Disclaimer: Brian jacques owns Martin, and Martin's memory of Rose.
Jessica Riddle owns the song, I guess. Well, did you cry lots?
