Disclaimer: Ok, so although I am a genius of the highest regard, I do not own Young Blades. Of course, I do own any characters that were NOT in the TV series. I wish I did; they're truly amazing and easy to fall in love with…just the type of characters any author would love to own. Oh, and in case you didn't catch on – I'm not really a genius either!
ENJOY! Please review!
Memories of a Brother
Jacqueline looked over at her riding companion as she tore through the trees of the french forest. She smiled at her success and tried to make out his face in the blur of objects behind her. She was riding too fast to see if he was laughing or not, but she suspected he still was. After all, he delighted in those comments that sent her reeling. She thought he would get the hint if she left him in the dust each time he insulted her or made comments about her gender, even if she secretly liked the attention.
Jacqueline turned back around in her saddle just in time to avoid a run-in with a tree. She swerved left and nearly was thrown off of her white mare. She slowed to a trot and glanced back again. D'Artagnan had noticed her sudden change in speed and had allowed his own horse to gain speed in order to catch up with her. When he reached her side, she could tell that he still found their earlier conversation quite amusing. He was slowly allowing his wide grin to lessen, but there was still a twinkle in his eye and a chuckle in his voice when he spoke.
