bag of tricks

i. ogami

Heike tries to love Ogami but it is too hard. He is like broken glass - all jagged edges and sharp corners. Unrefined. Cold. There is also the fact that Ogami loves the world too much to let it go for one person. Ogami is desperate and idealistic.

Heika tries to love Ogami but it is easier to hate him instead.

ii. yuki

Heike tries to love Yuki but it is too easy. Yuki is all laid-back and carefree - no problems to caress his world view or news to shatter his inner universe. While he does every job ordered, he still manages to keep that shred of innocence - naivete and childlike perfection. And, in Eden, Heike knows, innocence is the very fruit that is forbidden to eat.

Heike tries to love Yuki but it easier to ignore him instead.

iii. hitomi

Heike tries to love Hitomi but it is too passionate. Hitomi is all about whims and uncontrollable power - quick and destructive - so full of wants and emotions that it makes Heike suffocate. Hitomi is everything he wants to be - impulsive, beautiful, dangerous - but he's scared he'll live and die just like him - a lifetime as quick as a burst of fireworks in the sky.

Heike tries to love Hitomi but it is easier to mourn him instead.

iv. toki

Heike tries to love Toki but it is too powerful. Toki is the positive to his negative and Heike finds himself pressured to keep away from the boy. Toki is life and death, hate and love, killer and lover all rolled into one person. Toki has faith in the world and he has hopelessness; was it then so wrong for Heike to want to break him?

Heike tries to love Toki but it is easier to distance him instead.

v. rui

Heike tries to love Rui but it is too cold. Rui is stoic and resentful - she hates the world and the world hates her back. Her past clings to her like a second skin and Heike is hard-pressed to find her without it. Sometimes, the shadows catch her face and his heart breaks at the sight. Rui detests her life, but seems to grab on to it all the same; a futile attempt at happiness that he tries not to scowl at.

Heike tries to love Rui but it is easier to betray her instead.
