A/N: I've been on a huge Tokyo Babylon/X kick lately, particularly with my OTP, Seishirou/Subaru. So I decided to do the 100 Themes Challenge (which I am aware is several years old already) specifically for this pairing with a series of double drabbles~ Other characters like Hokuto, Kamui, Fuuma, etc. will be mentioned, but the main focus is SeiSub. Also, unless stated otherwise, the drabbles are all unrelated to each other, and the themes won't be in order. Ratings will vary from chapter to chapter.
Disclaimer: All characters belong to CLAMP; I'm just borrowing them.
WARNINGS: Spoilers for Tokyo Babylon/X, Slash.
Theme: 39. Dreams
Subaru hates dreaming.
It wouldn't be so bad, really, if all his dreams were nightmares; he can deal with the nightmares, no matter how much they hurt him. What he can't deal with are the dreams.
The ones where he and Seishirou-san are going out on one of their 'dates', where he blushes and stammers and Seishirou-san laughs and his arm is so warm and strong around Subaru's shoulders. Hokuto-chan would be waiting at home or tagging along with them, plotting more outings and a wedding that Subaru hotly denies will ever happen.
Even worse are the dreams where he tells Seishirou how much he loves him and hears the same words repeated back to him in that gentle, soothing voice of his. Then there's lips against lips, a sweet embrace that the onmyouji prays will never end.
Except it always ends when he opens his eyes, and the guilt and self-loathing and despair tear him apart. He'd spend the rest of the day working himself to the bone so that when he finally slept again, he would be far too exhausted to dream.
Because it is far too painful to be reminded of what was, what could have been, and what would never be.
