"This sweetness will not be concerned with me."

-Sweetness Jimmy Eat World.

Misa Amane never liked sweets. Not compared to that horrid Ryuzaki, who seemed to demand and claim her Light's attention for himself. She agreed, like any normal person, that sugar was fine in moderation, and held on to the idea- possessively so- that the occasional sugar binge was alright, okay, bearable, enough to keep the image of the happy-go-lucky pop princess that she was to her public. Still, she never liked sweets. The taste was too much, too unhealthy. The habit was too unreasonable to endure and- quite literally- to stomach. That's why the idea of Ryuzaki's perfectly disgusting habit was reason enough for her to hate that man. Yes, he horded Light's attention. Yes, he was in the way of Light's New World becoming a reality. Yes, he taunted Misa with that damned chain that bound him to her boyfriend. Yes, the man was absolutely completely repulsive in his attitude toward Light and Misa both.

But his addiction to something so naturally sweet, contrasted so badly with he who was so artificially so… it annoyed and repulsed her, while Light tolerated it, and Ryuzaki both. Though how he could do so, while constantly hearing the accusations of his being Kira, and threats of execution if he truly was the most captivating if not most compelling killer since the LABB murders in two-thousand-whenever, was far beyond her, who could barely be in the same room as that future diabetic.

Dammit, if Kira didn't get him, diabetes sure will.

…Then again, Light did put artificial sweeteners in his coffee…

That was why she had decided that once a year, always on the anniversary of Ryuzaki's death, she would binge on sweets. Lollipops (strawberry flavored, of course), New York cheesecake (the biggest she could find, after making sure that the strawberries in the artificially sweet topping were whole), packets of sugar found in every coffee shop and ice-cream parlor she would visit that week, and sweetened iced tea, accompanied by the same brand of sugar cubes Ryuzaki had preferred in life. The growing collection remained stored away until the predestined time. Outfitted accordingly in a black Lolita dress, under a blood-red cloak, she would take a small poppy and a picnic basket to the gravesite. After strategically placing the flower she had brought among the already wilting blossoms of Hydrangeas, Tuberoses, and Nightshade and Flytrap blossoms, she would have a tea party, and consuming as much of the sugary foods as she could, before passing out, as gracefully as she could under the influence of a sugar rush, on the resting place of the world's greatest detective.

Because Misa had won.

Because Misa had Light to herself.

Because Ryuzaki was dead.

Because his justice could hurt Light no longer.

Because now, Light's dream could be reality. And Misa would be by his side.

Because she knew that Light preferred the taste of artificial sweetness, than the natural taste of sugar, for his coffee.

1) Hydrangea - feeling that is initiated by anything that is sincerely heartfelt

Nightshade- truth

Tuberose- dangerous pleasure

Flytrap- deceit

Poppy- eternal rest

2) Why? Because Misa won when Ryuzaki died too! Does no one think about it that way?
