This is my sequal to Wake Up. It's set one year after the car crash, and Shuichi's still coping with the loss of Yuki. This story was inspired by Good Charlotte's 'Ghost Of You' off their Chronicals of Life and Death CD. So, enjoy.

This is dedicated to HULY

Disclaimer: I don't own 'Ghost of You' or Gravi. They belong to Good Charlotte (rock on) and (Muri)Kami.

Ghost Of You

Shuichi knelt down at the grave, head bowed against the cold December wind. Lighting the incense, he mumbled a prayer under his breath. Gently reaching out, he brushed the snow off the year-old grave.

I will wait until the end

When the pendulum,

Does swing back to the darker side of our hearts bleeding

Uesugi Eiri, the grave boldly proclaimed. Shuichi lay a pale cheek against the smooth surface, gently trailing his fingers along the words. He pressed his lips against the grave, then stood up, shoving his hands deep into his pockets. Leaving the cemetery, he turned his attention to the dirty gray snow that covered the sidewalks.

And I will save this empty space next to me

Like it's a grave where I lay a place for us to sleep eternally together

He snapped his eyes open, heart pounding, mouth full of blood. realized his tongue was caught between his teeth, he let it go, then started to cry. Burying his face in his arms, the dream of the accident once again flooded his thoughts.

Yuki's lips pressing against his as he fell back and his hand went limp.

I have been searching for

Traces of what we were

Shuichi stood up, the blanket that was wrapped around hip waist trailing behind him. Pulling open the door, he walked into the miasmic dark of the living room.

So here I am

Pacing around this house again

With pictures of us living on these walls

I see my breath in the cold of the air that I breathe and

I'm wondering if it's you I feel

That's haunting me forever

Shuichi let his eyes wander across the room, remembering it when he had been happy. He could see it so clearly, from his first memory here to Yuki's last night alive. Right now, if Yuki were here, he would be sitting at the end of the couch, smoking, and telling him to bug off. Shuichi smiled, soft purple eyes reflecting the moonlight.

A ghost of you

Is all I have left

It's all that I have left of you to hold

I wake in the night to find there's no one there but me

There's nothing left of what we were at all

His eyes widened, his breath caught in his throat. Yuki was there, entering the room. His shirt was half-undone, and he was ruffling his hair, trying to think of his next book.

Shuichi stood up, and slowly walked over to him.

"What do you want, brat?"

I'm not looking for

Anything but us

Anything by what we were

And I'm not asking for

Painted memories;

I only want to know you're here

He fell to his knees, staring up at the face of his lover. Yuki bent down.

"What's wrong with you?"

Shuichi felt a tear slide down his face. Yuki's hand reached out to wipe it away, but recoiled.

Shuichi gently reached a hand out, wanting to reassure himself it was real.

"What are you doing, kid?" Yuki was concerned now.

Shuichi's hand touched Yuki's face, then fell down into the shadows.

A ghost of you

Is all I have left

Racking sobs filled the empty apartment. Shuichi threw himself down onto the floor, fingernails scraping the wood. He began to scream.

It's all that I have left of you to hold

"IT WASN'T REAL! IT CAN'T BE REAL! YUKI DIDN'T DIE! HE COULDN'T! HE CAN'T-"

He cut himself off, knowing that he couldn't bring him back. It was over. Yuki was dead. He was never coming back, never.

I wake in the night to find there's no one there but me

There's nothing left of what we were at all

He had to live.

I'm not sure whether the ending was cruel or not. You decide. I hope you enjoyed the fic & song. Review, please!
