hey guys! a one-shot fanfic of alice in wonderland. DISCLAIMER:I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS OR PLACES.

Alice sat quietly and inconspicuously in the parlor, hands folded in her lap. Her body was in the red armchair, but her mind was somewhere else. Her mind was in Wonderland. Ever since Alice had taken her legendary trip down the rabbit hole, she couldn't stop thinking about the friends she had made and the adventures she had had. When she closed her eyes, she saw Tulgey Wood. When she slept, she dreamed of the Mad Hatter and the Caterpillar and the White Rabbit and the Red and White Queens. She would give anything to be back with them, back in Wonderland.

But how could she leave? How could she leave now, for heaven's sake, leave her mother while the divorce was being finalized and she was lingering at the edges of depression.

How could she leave now, leave her sister just as she was getting over her anorexia and still needed constant monitoring so she wouldn't relapse?

How could she leave now, when she was the one holding together a broken family?

Alice stood and walked to the window, restless and confused. Alice knew what she wanted, but the question was, who needed her more-her family or her friends in Wonderland? Alice sighed and walked up the stairs to her sister's room. She was sitting on her bed, gazing at something only she could see. She looked so innocent, so fragile, naive, unsure, vulnerable, needy.

Alice walked into the room next door-her mother's bedroom. was folding her laundry on her bed. 's expression was strained and concentrated, like every movement was a struggle that had to be carefully thought out and planned. Half of the room was empty, her father's half, all his things were gone, except his wedding ring. It was sitting on the smooth mahogany dresser. He had left it when he left for Lucinda's, and had refused to get rid of it.

Last, Alice walked into her own bedroom. There was yellow paint on the walls with blue trim. White curtains hung over the windows. The bed had white sheets and a blue blanket. There was a mahogany dresser identical to the one in her mother's room in one corner and a vanity mirror with all of Alice's makeup, jewelry, and hairbrush on it in the other corner. Alice looked around and sat on the bed.

Alice's life had always been neat, organized, and routine, even when she was a young girl. When she journeyed to Wonderland that all changed. Now she was unsure, anxious, questioning it all. Who needed her more, and where was her true place in life?

originally this was going to be a one-shot, but do you guys want more? do you want a second part where alice makes her decision? review! thanx for reading. ~lovelovelove, dara~
