He was happy she returned. She didn't die that day in that field of flowers, but it was very close. She lost her memories of the past. But Meiran Chang one day got them back. Wu Fei smiled when he thought of the phone call that had change his life.
"She remembers everything! She dreamt of the past, and thought she was becoming insane, but I told her, she remembers everything! She wants to meet you." Her mother told him.
Wu Fei had to admit that he never felt that nervous the day he saw his wife back. He remembered the past, when they fought so much. But when Meiran saw her husband, she almost jumped him. He would never forget the words she said. "I will never leave you, I know we fought in past, but I don't care, I love you more then anything."
And so Meiran Chang lay sleeping next to her husband Wu Fei. But Wu Fei saw something was wrong with her. She was sleeping, but she didn't look peacefully. Her face was pale, and her expression was that of... fear? The last time she looked like this was when Tallgeese just exploded and Meiran realised she would never see the flowers again.
Suddenly she woke up. Heavily breathing, almost crying... She saw him looking at her. "What's wrong, Meiran?" "Nothing, just a bad dream." "About?" "Nothing." She smiled, gave him a quick kiss "Goodnight!" and turned around.
'She must have dreamed about it, I know for sure. Why won't she tell me?"
He looked at her again. She smiled in her sleep, but then her expression changed, she looked again very pale and now Wu Fei saw her crying. Suddenly she woke up again, and this time he took her into his arms.
"Please tell me, Nataku, what did you dreamt of?" That was his petname for her.
"Nothing, really nothing is wrong." "You were crying..." "Yes... But I'm fine, I know what you are thinking, but believe me, it's not that." "Then, tell me, what is it?" "Nothing, don't ask, you would laugh, please don't ask."
She was almost begging him, something Meiran didn't do quite often. He knew that, she was ashamed of something.
Meiran also knew that he was aware of that. 'But I won't tell him this.' Everybody thought her only fear was the thing she went through almost three years ago, the fight, the explosion, the light of the white tunnel she saw, but managed to escape...
No, her real fear was...
Airplanes.
These big things that could fly through the air.
These big things that often seemed to crash, according to National Geographic Channel.
Meiran had a lot of annoying and fearful experiences with airplanes. A few turbulences experiences, and one day she really thought she would die when the stewards managed to let the food burn and the cabin was filled with smoke.
And now she dreamt of them.
The first nightmare wasn't that bad.
I am sitting in an airplane. We're taking of in Banjul, I am flying to Brussels. The plane is taking off, but suddenly it goes down and stops against a tree. We have to exit the plane with those weird yellow slides...
But the second nightmare made her almost scream.
I am on a boat in the Red Sea in Egypt. My friend Lin asks if I want to do some scubadiving. Of course I do. We dive into the water. I see a lot of beautiful fishes, but then Lin points at something. I see the wreck of an airplane. She goes inside it, I follow her. But what I see makes me scream in horror. The passengers of the plane are still in their seats, but the only thing that's left of them are their bones. I see hundreds of skeletons sitting in their seats...
She could never tell Wu Fei about her fears of planes. He would laugh at her. She's supposed to be strong... Right?
