The wracking cough woke him from exhausted slumber. Bleary green eyes peered over at the next bed to see the dark silhouette rubbing his chest. Switching on the light, Dean moved to the edge of his brother's bed. His fingertips gently pushed the shaggy, sweat-soaked hair off Sam's forehead, feeling the heat emanating from his fevered face.

Heavy eyelids cracked open. "Dean?"

"Pretty sick there pal. Why didn't you say anything?" Dean asked softly.

"S'just the flu."

"Yeah, people die from the flu ya know." Dean reached for the cup of water on the stand.

Sam snorted, setting off another coughing fit. Catching his breath he muttered, "Yeah, the old and infirm."

Dean smirked, tipping the cup to his brother's lips, "You're not getting any younger you know." Ignoring the glare, he sobered, "I knew you were sick, I didn't realize it was this bad."

Sam knew what he was thinking. "It wasn't." At the skeptical look he repeated, "It wasn't, I swear."

"Alright, fluids, rest, and if you're a good little boy I'll get you some of that frou-frou tea you like so much." Dodging Sam's half-hearted swipe, Dean gathered supplies to take care of his overgrown baby brother.
