Tomb Raider: Colossus
Teaser/Prologue
The rain beat relentlessly against the windows of the pristine mansion. The pale moonlight intermittently rushed to fill the darkened study, the light seemed to move about in its own unique way. The moonlight suddenly faltered and was quickly smothered as the treacherous winds pushed the dark storm along its undefined path. Long moments passed. A hooded man stood before the massive window, taking in every flash of lightening, every drop of rain, every monstrous clap of thunder… glorious.
The wind picked up, another break in the cloud line began to reveal itself. The moonlight once again flooded the study in a vain attempt to light up every corner of the room. Once more it was stamped out of existence.
A faint shimmer in the glass caught the man's eye. Turning around he saw a sparkle upon the oak table. The man picked up the object. The diamond ring sparkled in his hand. An avalanche of memories and emotions struck the man, his mind echoed with the laughter of children, with the cries of a friend, with the pleas of a sister, and the tears of a lover.
"How long has it been?" He said to no one. Three brilliant bolts of lightening pierced the darkness. For mere fractions of a second the study was completely illuminated, revealing anything and everything in the room. In that moment the man spotted, at the far end of the study, what appeared to be a lean and curvy figure, representing a woman. The man quickly closed his fingers around the ring, as if afraid that a thief may creep along and steal it. "Who's there?" He asked to the darkness. Another series of bolts lit up the sky. The figure had disappeared. The moonlight once more began to fill the room. The man scoffed. "Getting jumpy in your old age." He stated to himself. He turned back to observing the black tempest. The moonlight retreated behind the clouds.
