It was an early Summer morning in the small village of Go town. As Pelly left her house she inhaled the already warm air. She began to make her way to the Town Hall, enjoying the beauty of the town early in the morning. When she entered, her sister Phyliss was standing at the civic center window leaning against the middle pillar.
"Get a move on sis. It's time for my shift" Pelly said while making her way behind the counter.
"It's about time!" Phyliss said, and without another word to her sister she was gone. Pelly began her day by sorting out all of the mail that needed to be delivered today. She became jittery with excitement at the thought of pete's visit. She thought about slipping away to polish her wings, But snapped out of it at the sight of a customer approaching the Post Office window.
"This is the window for the town post office. What can I do for you?" She asked.
"I would like to withdrawal 3,000 bells from my account please." Said the girl on the other side of the window. Pelly gave a quick nod and walked to the vault in the back of the Town Hall. She grabbed the 3,000 bells and put them into a money bag.
"The current Bell balance is 5,000. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"No, Thank you. I'll be back tomorrow to mail some letters." The girl said before walking out. With no customers and the muffled snores of Tortimer from the back Pelly began to let her mind drift again. What did Pete think of her? He probably just thought she was an old fool... compared to her much more beautiful sister...
"Good Mornin' Pelly!" Pete said as he walked to the mail counter.
"Huh? What? When did you get here?" Pelly asked as she awkwardly tried to present herself. Pete began to chuckle.
"Day dreaming I see? I'm just here to pick up the mail to deliver today. I'm running late because some young kid thought it would be a good idea to shoot me down mid flight. The mail was everywhere!" He said, smiling at the now funny memory. Pelly nodded as she gathered the mail and handed it to him.
"Well I'll see to having a chat with those kids who shot you down. At any rate, here is the mail. That one going north of here is labeled fragile, so be careful." She said with a pleasant smile.
"Thanks I will. Well you have a nice rest of the day. Could you tell your sister I say Hello? It's such a shame I don't get to see her during the day." He said while leaving the building.
"But you get to see me..." Pelly said in a whisper once he was out the door. She sighed as she began to start getting the Boondox donations ready for delivery.
