Chapter 1
The most difficult aspect of smuggling is surprisingly enough not the transporting of nefarious goods from one location to another. Effective smuggling isn't dependent upon a trusty blaster either, although it does help sometimes. No, in my experience, smuggling depends primarily upon how you deal with others. It doesn't matter if it is when you initially meet with the client, while you are transporting, or when you deliver the goods at the drop off point. Smugglers need to be able to effectively communicate with other people.
Case in point, after haggling with an Exchange mouthpiece name Toran on the Smuggler's Moon of Nar Shaddaa, I picked up a nefarious stockpile of Bacta tanks headed to the Resistance on Balmorra. I do not have any love for the Sith Empire, but I generally can not stand dealing with the Balmorran Resistance. Just about every job I have had dealing with the 'Morons has ended with an attempted re-negotiation of fees on the part of the 'Morons.
My ship, the Nullius Pavet Occursum, an old mining vessel was boarded as we were passing through the Imperial Blockade of the planet. The Captain found the Silicaceous Asteroid Ore in our cargo holds but not the Bacta tanks that were hidden inside the Ore itself. Being a Zeltron, I could empathically sense his distrust of our cargo but emitted enough pheromones that he felt comfortable with our claim to being simple miners. We landed outside Sobrik.
My ship's crew consisted of Chericri, Salas, and Oasis. Chericri is a Zabrak Commando. She has been my right hand for the last three years. Salas is a Mon Cal engineer that I had found on Dac. He knows how to fix ship engines but is kind of naïve about the world. It is that naiveté that I used to get him to leave Dac with us in search of adventure. Oasis is a Zabrak Combat Medic that Chericri knew from Iridonia.
Chericri and Oasis hid themselves in the brush around the meeting site and kept watch for me within rifle range. We had arrived several hours ahead of the meeting time in order to set up for the meeting. When the 'Morons arrived I was ankle deep in a river fishing.
