Neko stood outside her house with a bow in one hand and an arrow in the other. She knocked the arrow and aimed it at an apple. She let the arrow fly. It his the apple right in the center. The 7-year-old girl smiled. She had learned to shoot a bow at a young age because of her father, who wanted her to know how to fight for her protection. Then her smile dropped. She never thought today her life would take a turn for the worst. When she was at school early that day, she had gotten angry and scratched a kid with cat-like claws. Now her mother was worried that they might come for her. Neko walked over to the apple and pulled the arrow out. That was the moment she made up her mind. She headed back to her house and packed her things. She then snuck out of the house and ran. Neko didn't stop running. Something inside of her was telling her where to go. Neko hurried to the bus stop and her mouth moved on its own. She told the bus driver. Westchester New York. It took 2 hours to get there. She paid the bus driver and just walked. Something inside told her this place in front of her, this mansion was a safe place. She walked to the front door and knocked. The door opened and a man in a wheelchair opened the door.

"Hello Neko Barton," he said, "My name is Charles Xavier and this is my school for gifted youngsters like yourself,"

"What do you mean by "gifted"?" asked Neko

"I mean mutants Neko," said Xavier, "I knew you were coming because I'm a telepath," he moved aside so Neko could step inside.

"So Neko," said Xavier, "Would you like to stay," Neko looked around.

"Can I?" she asked and Xavier nodded.
