Leo Baskerville. It sounded strange to Echo. But better than 'Leo' as she had known him for the past couple of years.
It was also slightly strange how their roles had changed. Once Leo had been her equal...but now he was unquestionably her master.
Leo Baskerville was Echo's master's master.
The difference between them was immense. There was nothing Echo could ever do to bridge that gap.
Although, she realised more than ever, how much they actually had in common.
While they were different, they were alike.
Echo knew now that Leo had been tormented by the voices in his head...by not knowing...
And she, Echo, was tormented by the voice of Noise, Zwei...the original...
Neither of them were their own person...someone else owned their bodies. Someone else occupied their souls.
But, by watching him...accompanying him...She had learned so much about how he dealt with it.
The simple answer: He didn't.
Echo didn't wish to sound mean, but after Elliot Nightrays death, Leo had just seemed to give up...give in.
She could relate to that. She tried to hold out...Hold Noise in. But often there was no point. She couldn't keep Noise away from the surface forever. She often wondered why she fought.
But Echo refused to give in.
She wished Leo would do the same.
Leo Baskerville. The name sounded strange to Echo.
But its owner was no stranger to her.
Or her struggles.
