A/N: Not a huge fan of refrains, but it's an interesting experience. Practice makes perfect I guess. This is a kyirelle with the classic aabB, ccbB, ddbB pattern, with B being the refrain (the repeated line). Written for the Diversity Writing Challenge at the DFC, A35 – kyirelle poem.

The world that was once a training ground for them
has turned, become a goal. Quick to condemn
they are: quick to throw them into the flames
but still, they've got aspirations, their aims.
There's a father, a sister and a self
passionate feelings they simply can't shelf.
They fall, they falter, they whisper their claims
but still, they've got aspirations, their aims.
They'll continue growing, even stronger
though it be more sneakily, and longer.
They bear both their own scars and others blames…
but still, they've got aspirations, their aims.
