Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
There was a green light all around, then terrible lonely coldness. A warm spark of light joined him for just a moment, but was pulled away. He didn't know how long he had waited in the darkness before the light came again. It might have been seconds, or millennia.
"It is time to wake up, love." The voice and light seemed to permeate the cold darkness where he slept.
"Wake up? But aren't we dead?" He was fairly certain of this fact, their deaths.
"Of course we were. But it is my time to awaken again. I told them I could not go without you, not so soon."
"Awaken? Again?"
"I explained it all when we were alive. I am immortal. I can be killed, but will walk the forests of the world again after a time."
"I never really believed it, you know."
"I know," she stated with a touch of sadness, and amusement. "I never really expected you to."
"I'm sorry then."
"All is well. But now we must wake. He needs us."
"How long has it been? How old is he. I seem to have lost track of time here."
"Of course. You were truly dead, love. It has only been a few years. Our baby's nearly eleven."
"Only a few? That's ten years!" He was shocked. They'd practically missed all of their son's childhood.
"Only a few," she repeated firmly. "Please remember love, my perspective of time is slightly different. And that I've been aware all this time."
"Oh, that."
"I've missed you terribly."
"I love you, my Lilly fair."
"And I you, James Potter."
