A/N: This isn't much of a happy gift, so I just send my best wishes and birthday congrats to the lovely guardians of our new Drabble community, Jane and Vanessa. Keep on shining, you crazy diamonds

At first he'd hide in the spare room like a wounded animal. But after a few days he started to explore her house, a silent shadow, oiling creaky cupboard-doors and fixing the broken lawnmower, grinding her kitchen-knifes and painting her fence, leaving empty whisky bottles in his wake. She hoped mending stuff was his attempt to heal, until she found Ben's leather jacket. The jagged cut running through the left arm was gone, the stitches so neat that they were hardly visible. And the image of Dean threading a needle on very different occasions made her cry in helpless agony.

A/N2: I know the fandom hasn't much love for Lisa, but I always liked her and I think she did the best she could to give Dean a shelter and a future. Sadly there'll never be a picket fence life for a Winchester.
