Chapter 0: Field Work

Six months ago a 14 year old had mysteriously managed to tap into V.I.L.E. Island through Carmen's phone. She only knew him as Player. However Player decided that it was high time he got out of his room. He just needed a way to do so and return without blowing his cover.
"Player, are you sure you want to do this?" Carmen asks the boy who has been helping her stop V.I.L.E. these past few months.
"I need to, but I don't know if the device I have will work." Player comments. "It hasn't been tested yet."
"Want to test it out?" Carmen inquires. "Trace my last known location and Zack, Ivy and myself will be waiting for you.".
"I'm a bit nervous about this though, if I type in the wrong coordinance, and don't land next to you, I have no way of returning." Player comments.
"Player, when working with me, the last thing you do is underestimate yourself." Carmen said curtly.
"Technically you are working with me." Player comments sarcastically. "Though the peptalk is appreciated."
"Well what are you waiting for?" Carmen questions.
"Trying to initialize sequences, it's infuriating." Player snaps. "My info-scans are being non-responsive for some reason."
"Have you tried extending your temporal sequencer?" Carmen suggests.
"I thought that only worked for time travel, not teleporting." Player answered typing in a series of commands with nothing working. "That probably wouldn't hurt."
"Player, calm down, from the sounds of your typing it seems that all the rage you are exhibiting right now is causing your head to get clouded." Carmen remarked.
"Alright, there's one other option i can think of to make this work, but I'll need a link to return once I get to Vancouver from here." Player replies. "I need to get something first before I try that."
"What?" Carmen asks as Player steps away from his screen momentarily and returns with a special yellow jacket that had a purple collar and three gold stars on it with brown pilot wings next to them and a white fedora with a blue stripe to go with his normal blue shirt, black shorts and black sneakers.
"My gear." Player answered. "Best to disguise myself, also I can remote access my computer from the headset in my fedora."
"Good thinking." Carmen remarks.
"Alright, I'm going to run a translate-a-scan to try and teleport to your location, if this goes well, I should be able to help up in the field." Player replied typing in his commands as he disappeared into the networking system by entering the keyword "C-5" and emerging near Carmen in mid-air before nearly falling when Carmen used her grappling hook to anchor herself and catch him with her free hand.
"I'll improve that soon." Player remarks. "We can't have landings in mid-air now can we?"
"No, but your fieldwork training starts at sunrise." Carmen commented.

A/N: That new series on Netflix is full of surprises and easter eggs. I thought Player should get a chance to have some fun in the field.
