This chapter is partly inspired by Stargon1, and the character Lorraine Colburn is inspired by Wanderer Of The Sky. Thank you both for providing some inspiration!
"Avery, Elyse!"
I walked up to the ancient stool, nervous, but ready for the hat to shout out 'Slytherin' as soon as it touched my head, like it did for my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents before that. After all, I was part of the sacred 28, and I was destined to be in Slytherin. Hufflepuff would be nice though. That's not an option though, due to my goddamn anger management issues.
Hmm, how interesting.
"I know that you will put me in Slytherin, so spare me the torture."
Unlike your predecessors, you don't belong there. You aren't nearly as cunning as any Slytherin, no offence, and it's not what you want either. Not Ravenclaw or Gryffindor either. I take it you want to be in Hufflepuff? Your *ahem* how do I say this... behavior problems will not impede you. Trust me. Seriously, I should stop giving advice.
"Yes, that would be lovely. Thank you!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
"Chase, Julianne!"
Great. I'm going to fail.
Very ambitious and resourceful. Also hardworking and fair. Both Slytherin and Hufflepuff are good matches for you. I take it you are muggleborn?
"Yes, which means you'll put me in Hufflepuff, which I don't mind at all."
Ah, I see. Did you want to be in Slytherin?
"I would like to."
Okay, then, Miss Chase. Good luck being the first muggleborn in Slytherin in about a century.
"SLYTHERIN!"
"Colburn, Lorraine!"
I can't let the sorting hat see my weaknesses, or I'll never get into Ravenclaw. Thankfully, I learned a bit about concealing information.
Miss Colburn, don't bother. I can still see everything.
"Dammit, I'm never getting into Ravenclaw."
That doesn't mean anything. You are very eager to learn and quite inquisitive. You would do anything to get more information. Ravenclaw is an excellent match for you.
"But-"
Dyslexia does not equal stupidity. Anyways, let's get you sorted.
"RAVENCLAW!"
"Green, Kimberly!"
Why does everyone call me Kimberly? I hate that name. It's too long and Kim sounds better.
Alright, Miss Green. Courageous. Very courageous if your friends are harmed, but struggles with anxiety. Not that that matters. A bit impudent and reckless. An love for adventure. This is fairly obvious.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
