The walls were a terrible ash grey. Why would anyone have a miserable colour for such an important office? She would need to be changing that when she had the time.
She settled down into her high-backed and intricately designed chair. It was uncomfortable, but she knew some spells to add some cushion. She would get to that later as well.
She looked out the window and noticed the sun had started to rise. It was a calm blue sky, tinted red with the rays of the sun. She always thought sun rises were a sign of hope; as if the bad things were in the past, and things could start fresh.
New things would come, and she would tackle them with a purpose. She would do witches and wizards proud, and she would uphold her promises. Promises that would bring joy to families, allow children to grow up more freely in their world, and put a stop to discrimination from pure bloods.
Sitting back, she reflected on how she got here. It was a long election, and it was a tiring election. The competition was fierce, and they came with their claws out. She prevailed. She was a force to be reckoned with, and everyone knew it. There was no way, in her mind at least, that she would lose this. Her family listened to a lot of rants, and her husband saw a lot of tears behind the scenes, but all of this will be worth it.
The anxiousness started to creep in. Would she be everything she hoped to be for the people? Would she live up to her promises? She moved around some things on her desk, her hands starting to shake.
"Stop", she said to herself. "You do have this. No one has this more than you."
Her predecessors had done a good job; well, the most recent ones have. Yes, she had some messes to tidy up in the wizarding world, but nothing that with a little elbow grease couldn't fix.
Her parents would have been so proud. Such a prominent position, in a world they don't know much about, but can still appreciate how amazing this will be for her. They aren't around anymore, long since passed on, but when she heard that she won, she could feel in herself how proud they would be.
Taking a deep breath, she pulled out a quill, dipped into her ink pot, and began writing what would be her first memo in office. A decree to allow house elves the freedom they deserve. It was a life long goal of hers, and she was now able to do something about it.
Yes, she would be very happy in this position. She had the love of her family and friends, and the wizarding world behind her. She had bravery, brawn, and intellect. She will give hope, she will give freedom, and she will give her heart.
She signed her name at the bottom of the parchment, and sighed happily. She did like the look of that.
