The moonlight shined through the windows, becoming a light source other than the glow from the laptop. L chewed on his thumb out of habit, thinking of something else other than the Kira case. The chain made a sound as Light turned to face L in his sleep. L looked at Light. Even though the detective had seen his suspect's face more times than he could count, L couldn't resist staring, gazing at Light, taking in his features. L felt an unknown sensation as he thought.

It wasn't unknown, as L knew what it was, but L denied it. It was already risky for him to care deeply for another person, and much more dangerous when that person was a suspect. A Kira suspect. Especially when L was chained to the suspect in question.

As L thought about his feelings for his suspect, he started to think of fantasies. L controlled himself when he realized what he was thinking of and regained his senses. Of course, there was no way Light Yagami would love him back, after all, he couldn't be gay.

But a part of L doubted that. After all, no straight man would spend an hour in the bathroom and use that many hair products. Light Yagami was...Perfect, but that was what made L suspect Light in the first place, along with other reasons. L shook his head.
He continued to look at Light. L moved forward, carefully to avoid clinking the chain. L looked at the moonlight. 'Just like Light... Beautiful.' L thought. He froze for a moment, but desire and lust forced him to go forward, until he was directly next to Light, the chain in the air.

'This is...Not right. I should not force this on Light-kun. But Light-kun is sleeping, isn't he? Light-kun would not know... No. If I did what I wanted, I would lose.' L continued to chew on his thumb, arguing with his own self.
'Light-Kun is Kira. But you don't have solid evidence. Light-kun has memory gaps. What does that prove? Kira has a way to transfer his power and forget about what he has done, of course. Yes, but Light-kun is innocent now, based on your own statement, no?'

L sometimes hated himself for being so smart. Especially during arguments like that.

Then, L heard something. "L..." Was Light awake? L moved backwards, forgetting about the chain for a moment. Clang, clang.
Light wasn't a light sleeper. But he wasn't that much of a deep sleeper, either. L waited for him to wake up. Light didn't. L almost breathed a sigh of relief, but he stopped himself. L continued to go through the current information about the Kira case. He still pondered about why he loved Light in the first place, though. Was it because Light-kun was perfect? Or was because Light-kun was his first friend? Maybe it was because Light-kun was his equal. L looked at the clock. 5.00AM. He had to wake Light-Kun up now.

"Light-kun, wake up."
"Urg...It's still early..." Light protested.

He needed his sleep, after all.
"This is not the first time I have woken you up this early, Light-kun."

"J-Just...J-Just let me sleep for another hour, okay, R-Ryuzaki?" Light-kun never stuttered like that before when he woke up.
L stared at Light for a few moments, trying to figure him out. "Light-kun?"
Light was already asleep.

And that was when L noticed that Light-kun was blushing faintly as he slept.
Perhaps he could give Light-kun some extra sleep just this time…

After all, Light-kun was much, much more than L's first friend.
