I finally own Newsies! And in other news, pigs are flying, unicorns are real, and Andrew Keenan-Bolger is not absolutely amazing. Oh wait just kidding, I own nothing.

Specs walked into the bunk room, and immediately noticed the absence of Crutchie. The part that really confused him was that Crutchie's crutch was sitting on his bed. A bad feeling settled in Spec's stomach as he thought about what could have happened to Crutchie.

"Hey, Specs. Are youse okay?" Romeo grabbed Spec's shoulder.

"Umm, maybe. Do you know what happened to Crutchie?"

"No, what happened?"

Specs nodded to the crutch sitting on Crutchie's bed in response.

Romeo's eyes widened in terror. The boys questioned the rest of the Newsies as they walked into the room. None of them new what had happened, but all of them feared the worst.

"Guys, wees can't just stay here waitin any longa. We gotta go find him."

All the boys nodded in agreement with Romeo as they got up and followed him down the stairs. Specs reached to open the door, but pulled away as Race came walking through it.

"Woah, where's everyone goin? Is there a fire somewhere?" Racetrack regretted making the joke when he only got grim stares in response.

"We're goin ta find Crutchie. He's missin and somethin bad musta happened to him!"

Racetrack pushed Specs back as he started to walk out the door again. "Hold up, Crutchie ain't missin. He's babysittin fow Katherine and Jack."

The horde of boys looked around in confusion.

"Wait, then why is his crutch sitting on his bed?"

"Cause dat's how dere payin him. By getting him a new crutch."

"Oh!"

The relieved group of newsboys followed Race back up stairs. As Race neared Crutchie's bed, he called behind him,"Hey, Romeo. En Garde!" Race yelled as he bent down and grabbed the crutch. Romeo quickly jumped back out of the swinging radius of the crutch. He quickly looked around and grabbed a pole off the floor.

"Rahhhhhh!" Romeo yelled as he charged Racetrack. Everyone gave the two boys a wide berth as they swung their makeshift weapons wildly.

"You will rue the day you challenged the great, Romeo!"

"What does that mean?!"

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Most of the newsboys were sitting on the bunks, cheering the boys on. Everyone was mesmerized by the fight, so nobody noticed that they had neared the end of the room. Nobody noticed how close they had gotten to the staircase. Nobody noticed anything...until Race tumbled down the stairs. All the boys stood frozen in fear.

"Race, are you dead?"

"No I'm not dead, dummy!"

Kid Blink lead the way down to Race.

"Okay, Race, what hurts?"

"Nothin. I'm fine. Ah!" Race's scream quickly betrayed him as he tried to stand up.

Blink quickly sat him back down. "Okay, stop lyin ta me. Which foot is it?"

Race pointed at his right foot as he took a deep breath, trying to keep tears at bay. Blink carefully removed his shoe and sock, and rolled up his pant leg. The newsboys all crowded around, waiting for Blink's diagnosis.

"Okay, it's not broken. It's just a sprained ankle."

A collective sigh went out from the crowd of boys.

"You're just goin ta have ta ice it and stay off it fow awhile."

Romeo sheepishly walked towards Race and held out Crutchie's crutch.

"I guess you get to be our Crutchie for the night!"

Sorry, was that mean? Did I have you terified for a second there? This whole story was inspired by Ben Cook's recent Crutchie debut. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm thinking of maybe putting this and monster into the same story and make it a series of oneshots about the Newsies hurting themselves. Alright, it's 12:46 AM MST. So goodnight, goodmorning, and good everything in between!
