So I had to write this thing for English with which we had to come up with an ending for the fairytale "The Lady or the Tiger". Basically there is a kingdom with a semi-barbaric king that has imprisoned his daughter's lover, and the trial for this man is to pick between two doors. One holds a beautiful lady, and one holds a ferocious tiger. Which one do you pick? My argument was that the lover had picked the door with the lady inside. Here is the ending to the story. Please enjoy, and I apologize for the short description. I hope this makes sense to you.
The man opened the door to the right, and out came...the lady. The princess was so relieved yet heartbroken that her lover was being forced to marry this horrible woman. The princess saw her lover's look of rapturous delight as he found the lady standing behind the door. She saw him rush to meet the lady, and noticed the lady was grinning up at her with a look of triumph.
The princess's blood boiled as she watched the two of them get married, the wild ringing of happy bells, the two walking along the path of flowers. But out of the princess's longing for her lover, and the silent pleading that it wasn't to be true, the lover came back to his senses. It was wrong to be married to this...this wonderful lady but yet...the princess was far more fair and beautiful and more wonderful than this lovely lady could ever be. The lover, realizing his mistake, stared longingly at the princess, wanting her to acknowledge her love for him and his love for her.
The princess then looked up at her lover and the lady, and noticed the lover staring longingly at the her with love in his eyes, pleading that she would still love him back. The princess stopped crying. All wasn't actually lost. The princess put a smile on her face as she blew her lover a kiss, making the lady a whole lot less than triumphant.
She went over to one of the guards who were standing over by the king and her to protect them, and took one of their bow and arrows surreptitiously. The guard had no clue that the bow was gone. The princess went back to her seat, bow and arrow in hand. The king immediately noticed the large weapon in his daughter's hand.
"Princess, I have done something for you and yet this is how you treat it? Guards, take the bow away from my daughter at once!" he said.
But the princess was too quick. She leapt onto the roof of the doors and put an arrow into the arrow rest and drew back, aiming for the lady. Before the lady knew what was going to happen, the princess shot and the lady immediately collapsed, blood pouring out where the arrow had shot her heart.
Before the lady died, though, she said, "Husband, please, I know you love me." She reached for her new husband's hand, but the lover backed away, a look of pity in his eyes. "I only have eyes for the princess." he said. The princess, upon hearing this, dropped the bow, leapt off of the roof, and rushed to her lover's arms. They embraced, and soon the two were affectionately kissing each other.
The semi-barbaric king, having seen everything that had happened, thought about having the guards try to stab them, but the fact that the princess was truly happy was all he needed to see in order to hold back and let them love each other.
For there isn't a love stronger than the true love of the princess and her lover, and nothing can ever break that kind of love.
I hoped you enjoyed that little bit. The ending had to be 1.5 spaced, 12 font, and one page on google docs, which is why this is so short. If you have any more questions, please comment or PM me. Thanks!
