Envy, Son of Malefor Saga: Son Born of Evil
This is my second Legend of Spyro Fanfic. The other is on hiatus for lack of ideas. This story is supposed to be the first of many about a young dragon, who is 15 years of age and the son of Malefor. He is amnesiatic and only remembers his name at the beggining of this story and he will begin to remember things as the story goes on.
I own none of the Canon characters and do not claim to own any. I only own the characters I, myself, has made up, such as Envy, Raven, and Zodiac.
And now for the beggining of this saga.
Prologue: A Dangerous Birth
A lone dragon flew through the pouring rain. It was a crimson dragoness with a black underbelly, with jet black wings. It flew towards a dark mountain known by the dragons as Malefor's Mountain. The mountain had been uninhabited for the last 9 months. She landed outside the entrance to the caves that went deep into the mountain.
A loud cry pierced the sound of the quiet night. A shadow appeared in the sky above the dragoness and uttered another bird-like cry. As the creature was about to come upon the dragoness, she ran into the caves. The creature uttered it's cry again and the sound of it flying off was soon lost in the drumming of the rain.
The dragoness ran deeper and deeper into the caves, never looking back. She came to a large cavern and was immediately overcome by pain.
Hours later the dragoness was asleep on the floor of the cavern. A dragon egg lay on the ground in a nest of rocks and grass. It was black with swirls of crimson and dark green.
It was a curious sight, the egg was, but the apes didn't think so. They came undetected and quietly and took the egg. They ran from the mountain's caves and into the rainy night. They ran into the forest when they heard the screech of the creature.
The creature was large. Larger than a dragon, and perhaps more terrifying in appearance. It had jet black feathers, crimson talons that were longer than a dragon's tail, and a bird like face. It landed upon the apes and tore at them viciously, killing all but the one with the egg in its hand. The ape shivered and yelled it's cry before throwing the egg behind him and running away. The creature ran after the escaping ape and disappeared into the trees.
The egg landed on a soft patch of grass, leaves, and mushrooms beneath the roots of a tree. The creature came back through the trees and searched for the egg to no avail. It screeched once more in anger and flew up through the trees.
The dragoness awoke and noticed that her egg was gone. She searched frantically for the egg, but to no avail. She roared in anger and sadness knowing Malefor must have sent his apes to take it, but she had no idea what had really happened.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" She roared and fell to the floor, limp.

Who was the dragoness? What was that creature and why did it want the egg? Did Malefor send the creature or did he send the apes, or both? What will happen to the egg and the dragon in it? What is in store for the Dragon Realms?
All those questions and more will be answered, hopefully, in the next chapter.
