A Thousand Years

When Alice awoke, she was a vampire, and she had no memories of her human life. This poem is about Alice and Jasper after she found him in the diner in Philadelphia.

The time we first met, the stormy Philadelphian day

Your eyes were blood red, my gaze didn't stray

I waited and waited, what felt like a thousand years

In that shabby diner; I was grinning from ear to ear

You took my hand without hesitating,

Didn't take time to think about anything

Had a vision of Carlisle, Esme and all

We found it best to join them, and change our ways

Eyes went from red to gold, but control was still like that of the early days

You came from the war, scars cover your skin

Bite marks and claw marks give you chagrin

Your past, your pain, and time brought you to me

I waited for you, and I didn't regret

How you spent time with Maria, giving her aid and abet

For without it, I wouldn't have you

I have no memory of my own past,

Aside from what I found on the internet

They thought I was crazy, that much I know

Why else would I have been in the asylum, overwhelmed with woe?

After we found each other that day,

We traveled through the states

From Pennsylvania to Washington, together as mates

We found the Cullens in their big white house,

And not long later, you became my spouse

So here we are, half a century later,

Going to high school in Forks

Rosalie's got Emmett, Edward's got Bella, and Carlisle has Esme

But best of all

After I waited for so long,

I, Alice Cullen, have you, Jasper Hale.
