Title: For You
Drabble: #15
TK's prompt: Prawn cracker
Randomly selected pairing: Mimori
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: First Mimori on this site! And as much as I love my wife, I wish she'd give me some prompts that aren't to do with telly or food.

Iori orders Chinese that evening because he knows that Mimi likes Chinese. He would make it himself, but he can't cook very well so it'd probably end up either undercooked or burnt to a crisp, and essentially inedible. After all, it's a special occasion and he can't take the risk that he might do something to mess it up.

He imagines the chaos if he attempted to make the Chinese himself and it all went horribly wrong minutes before Mimi got home. How terrible.

No, he can't allow such a thing to happen, so he orders the Chinese instead. He tries to remember what Mimi usually orders, and finds himself panicking when he can't remember. So first he asks for prawn crackers; he knows that she likes those.

Then he orders for himself: sweet and sour pork with egg fried rice. He's not about to be adventurous and try something new when he needs the evening to be perfect.

He stalls after this, still struggling as he looks through the menu to remember what Mimi will like. He tries to make conversation about other things, to buy time, but the person on the other end of the phone isn't interested.

When they're about to hang up, he picks the duck with plum sauce and Singapore noodles out of desperation. It's ringing bells in his mind, and he knows that's probably as close as he's going to get to remembering.

He asks for some chips too, just to be on the safe side.

It arrives just after he's finished setting the dining table up with flowers and candles, and Mimi is due home any minute. He hurriedly pays the man and puts their meals onto plates, with the prawn crackers and chips in the middle.

He has only just thrown the empty containers away when Mimi walks through the door. She freezes when she sees the display, while he bows and says happy anniversary.

After the initial shock has passed, she starts to squeal and Iori takes this as a good sign. And a good sign it is; she embraces him and showers his face with kisses, all the while raving about how she hasn't had prawn crackers for months.
