Soothing Waters

Emma was concerned. Killian was resilient, but begin tossed against a tree not to mention three out of seven of the dwarves was more than just a bad day. Unfortunately one of them wasn't Grumpy. He was trying to hide that he was hurt but she could still tell.

"I'm fine Love." He had been trying to reassure her on the entire drive home. "I'll admit those dwarves aren't as cushioned as they seem. Still I managed to distract the monster long enough for you to dispose of it." Truth be told he wasn't trying to be a distraction. He had seen Emma in danger and just rushed in without thinking.

"How many times do I have to tell you, I can take care of myself." Every time he was hurt she felt as though someone was clenching her heart in their fist. "And you're not fine. I see you wincing when you think I'm not watching you."

Killian beamed. "You can't seem to take your eyes off of me." Sure, he didn't want his Swan to worry about him. Still, it gave him a warm fuzzy feeling that she was watching him so closely. That she care for him so much that she would probably still be telling him off an hour from now.

"This isn't funny Killian. What if you had broken your neck when you hit that tree." She pulled into the driveway of their home. "You scared me." It was a low blow, but she needed him to know it wasn't alright to put his life on the line all of the time.

The grin fell from his face. "I'm sorry Love." He only wanted her to be happy and feel loved. But he couldn't just stand aside and watch her battle whatever evil was in town. He didn't want to lose his Swan anymore than she wanted to lose him.

"Come on. Let's get you into a bath and see what the damage is." She shook her head. It was nice to have someone care about her so much that they'd throw themselves in front of danger. But she wanted him around for a while.

Killian was overly quiet as she ran the bath for him. It was a small miracle that he had no bruises or injuries on his back. His front however was covered in bruises. Hopefully the bath would sooth the ache in the bruises.

Emma sat the other end of the bath and dangled her feet in the water. "Maybe we can go out for dinner tomorrow." He looked so dejected. "How badly are you hurt really?"

He tried to shrug but it hurt too much. "Might need you to kiss a few places better." He sank lower into the bath hoping he hadn't scared her so much that she was going to run.

"I could probably do that." She had meant to upset him, but she had almost turned grey on the spot when she had seen him go flying into the tree. Although it had been amusing when he had then gone flying into the dwarves.

"Look Love, I know you're scared that you're going to lose me, but I'm never going to be able to stand and watch you being attacked." Killian needed to explain himself so that they weren't continuously going through this. "It terrifies me when you put yourself in the line of fire, especially when most of this town doesn't appreciate it. They just expect you to save them over and over again."

"It's my job." Emma knew it was an empty protest. She couldn't expect Killian to stay safe at home while she did exactly what she was asking him not to.

"But it's not worth giving up your life for." They were so alike. "Just don't run from me. I've only just got used to your snoring."

"I don't snore." Emma knew he was teasing her. "I won't run. Just make sure you stick around long enough for me to get used to your snoring." Truth was, she couldn't sleep without him beside her now.

Killian smiled. "That I can do." He was positive he was going to be aching from head to toe tomorrow, but it would be worth it just as long as Emma was safe and able not to mention willing to play nurse.

Satisfied for the moment Emma went to make dinner. Turned out he was as scared of losing her as she was of losing him. For now, they had reached a compromise. She would ask her Father to take her shift tomorrow so she could play nurse with her Pirate.

"Mum! Are you and Killian okay?" Henry barged through the front door. Obviously the dwarves had been talking. They were the worst gossips.

"We're fine. Killian's got a few bruises but apart from that it's just another day in Storybrooke." Emma hugged her son to reassure him she was fine, but she was touched that he was concerned about Killian as well.

"So we can still all go sailing this weekend?" Nice to know her son's priorities were for the three of them.

"Weather depending Lad." Killian had got dressed when he heard Henry come in. "How about you set the table since your Mother is cooking dinner."

"I'm glad you're alright." Henry began setting the table.

"Thank you Lad." Killian ruffled his hair as he walked past.

God, when had the three of them got so domestic? At least they had survived another day.
