Prologue

The Alpha Pokemon, Arceus, looked over the vast dimensions of the universe. Since the return of the Jewel of Life, he has been able to stay away from the normal world. But he knew that this peace was not to last. Time and Space, two dimensions that never should meet, were once again shifting towards each other. Dialga and Palkia would not be too fond of a second offense. Arceus predicted that the next battle between the two giants wouldn't be as easily stopped like last time. The two would fight until the bitter end to defend their territory. It would be a loop once again. Giratina wouldn't take too kindly to the pollution of its world and would return quickly and fiercely. It would be a domino effect.

Arceus prepared itself for a fight that would require his services to protect humanity. He had been able to easily take out the three when he launched his assault on the normal world, but something about this one gave him the impression that this wouldn't be as easy to stop.

I must try. The humans will depend on me.

And so Arceus began the process of awakening itself…one that takes time to complete.

An impossibly quick Infernape ripped across the cavern. Aura spheres followed its path as it deftly dodged all of them, and then kick flipped off the cavern wall and landed in front of its trainer. The trainer was a male, aged 15, and had an intense look to his face. He wore a red cap, complete with the symbol of a pokeball on the front. The rest of his wardrobe included a blue jacket fit for cold weather and blue sweatpants. His right wrist bore a pokewatch, which had seen better days.

He stood in front of an impossibly strong adversary, probably the strongest he had ever faced. Sweat began to definitely show on his red face, but no fear or state of panic occupied it. Pure determination and fiery intensity pushed him forward, almost like his Infernape.

His adversary was a Mewtwo, the strongest pokemon he has ever been able to come across, and he was not to be defeated now. His Infernape would not allow it. However, he was not the only one feeling the pressure. This trainer was not to be taken lightly, and it clear on the Mewtwo's face as hit huffed and puffed for air in exhaustion.

"All right Infernape! Let's wrap this up! Use Flamethrower!" the trainer commanded. Infernape didn't hesitate to launch a bright red-orange stream of fire straight at the Mewtwo. He attempted to dodge, but due to its exhaustion, it took the full brunt of the attack. When Infernape let up, the Mewtwo landed on one knee, gasping for air. The trainer shuffled in his bag for an ultra ball. As soon as he found one he winded up and gave it a good hurl at the Mewtwo. It hit it directly and popped open and a white light enveloped the Mewtwo and condensed back into the ball. The ball hit the ground with a ding and began to shake. This wait was agonizing. The trainer stood still and watched as the ultra ball shook on and on. Eventually, it gave the most satisfying ding of his entire career as a trainer and sparkled to show his catch. The trainer fell to his knees in utter exhaustion. He could not believe that he had achieved this grand feat. Mewtwo was his.

Infernape whirled around and took the side of his trainer and kneeled down next to him. It spoke to him with the classic repeating of his name.

"Ape! Ape! Infernape!" It shouted and playfully rubbed its cheek against his trainer. The trainer couldn't help but laugh and return a hug back to his longtime partner and friend.

"We did it Infernape! We really did it!" he shouted. Infernape jumped in the air as his trainer sprinted after the ultra ball that contained Mewtwo. He picked it up and immediately let it out of its ball. The Mewtwo immediately collapsed but was held up by Infernape as it rushed to its side. Trainer quickly dug into his pack and pulled out a Full Restore and began to spray it on the wounds that the Mewtwo had sustained during the battle. Before long, it was back to full strength and let out an alien-like roar that echoed throughout the cavern. The trainer smiled as the Mewtwo's confidence returned. Eventually it looked back at its new trainer and smiled back and clenched its three-fingered fist.

"Welcome to the team Mewtwo! My name's Napoleon and this is my partner Infernape!" the trainer said. Infernape once again spoke by repeating his name and gave a confident smile and jumped up and down. The Mewtwo replied with a strange animal-like speech to Infernape that he seemed to understand and nodded his head.

Napoleon laughed. He was so excited for his new partner, and he was going to go a long way with him.

After a few minutes of rest, Napoleon returned Mewtwo back to its pokeball, but not Infernape. He rarely ever returned Infernape, since he enjoyed his company and knew him since he was only 10 years old when he received a Chimchar from Professor Rowan 5 years ago. Infernape had grown to become one of the most feared of its kind, but you would never guess that from its extremely friendly nature.

Napoleon and Infernape then ran out of the cavern into the much larger interior of Mount Coronet. They sped off with great haste, needing to get to the nearest pokemon center to heal up the rest of his formidable team that had fallen to Mewtwo….

(So here it goes. This is my first Pokemon fanfiction that I have ever attempted to create. I have been writing Star Fox ones before now and I want a little change of scenery. I have had this sort of idea for a bit now and I am ready to crank it out finally. This story will contain Ash, Dawn, and Brock from the Sinnoh anime, but Ash and Dawn will be portrayed as 14-15 year olds instead of 10, while Brock will be roughly 19-20 or so. The rest will reveal itself as the story progresses!)
