A small she-cat trotted through the thick undergrowth, occasionally glancing up to check her route. Eventually, she pushed through a particularly dense bush and into a clearing, where another cat, a jaguar, a black panther, a cougar, and a harpy eagle sat waiting.
"You're late, Morningfeather," the jaguar said.
"My apologies, Hinsra," Morningfeather responded politely and dipped her head. "I live quite far from here."
"Asking Morningfeather to be on time is like asking her to grow wings and fly here like Siad," the other cat joked, flicking his tail at the eagle perched beside him.
Morningfeather rolled her eyes and sat down. "Oh, be quiet, Smokeheart."
"Now that everyone's here, we need to discuss our current situation," the cougar said, and looked up as there was a flash of lightning and rain started falling.
"And hurry," the harpy eagle, Siad, grumbled, shifting back and forth.
"The Clan cats are doing well," Morningfeather meowed, glancing at Smokeheart, who continued.
"Additionally, there will soon be new apprentices to train." Smokeheart dipped his head, signaling the end of his report. "Kuru?"
The cougar reported new cubs in the cougar pride, and that everyone was healthy.
The harpy eagle, Siad, went next. He said that the flock was getting on well, however, a younger eagle had come down with a sickness, but was getting better fast.
Hinsra said the jaguars were doing fine, and that there wasn't any significant news to tell. "Fennu?" he asked.
The black panther, who had not said anything the whole time, heaved a sigh.
"I don't see why we have to explain our groups' strengths and weaknesses," she drawled. "It seems pointless, really."
Morningfeather bristled. "It's not pointless! It shows we trust each other and if anything is amiss then we can help one another!"
Fennu flicked her tail nonchalantly. "I do not wish to partake in this," she said, with more power in her voice.
"Fennu, you were perfectly fine with this a week ago! In fact, you helped get my flock a medicine they needed!" Siad cried.
"Things change, Siad," she growled, as the rain started pouring down in buckets. Fennu stared through the rain at the group of animals. "The treaty still stands, however, so we will not attack, for that would be foolish. Farewell."
The black panther spun around and bounded out of the clearing, leaving the jungle creatures wondering what would happen next.
How did you guys like it? Please review and follow! I can't promise super regular updates, but we'll see how long this goes! And I know cougars and jaguars live alone, but I needed them to live in groups for the story XD
