He was just trouble walking and the Dragon knew that he stayed in Camelot he'd feel compelled to assist the young, "Legendary" warlock in whatever stupid mission he always seems to drag himself into. Endangering his and the entire of Camelot's future in these so called "adventures". The Dragon wishes they were just mere adventures, it seems more and more like Merlin wishes to die.
'Course, he knew Merlin truly didn't. Few humans that he'd ever run across in any of his long years here ever did. But, well...Merlin seemed to tempt fate a little too often for comfort. The Dragons comfort most of the time.
He smiled to himself.
He did honestly enjoy Merlin's visits. Even when he very much so wanted to crush the tiny human under his large scaly feet. He knows very well that Merlin is far too important to crush, right now at least.
Merlin needs to help Arthur, help him bring back magic and make this dreadful world a little more tolerable. He has to become Arthur's most trusted, he must help him work thru Guinevere's betrayal and he must get Arthur to Avalon when the time comes.
Humans need to see sense before the golden age of Camelot though. Currently this place is filled to the brim with stupid humans who fear magic..Power is truly what the fear, the Dragon corrected himself. That was always what they feared and conveted. If all the humans saw him they'd fear him. He and Merlin were very much the same in that regard. Many trials were coming, Morgause was going to be the most bizzare one. Morgana's betrayal would stick Arthur's heart worse than anything else. Mordred was always something to be concerned with. And in the far, far future he would need to help Merlin bring Arthur back to power.
The Dragon shut his eyes for a moment, hoping, praying that the gods would be king to them all. Small mercies. He would not always be there to advise the young warlock and it isn't as though he listens as he should anyways.
In the midst of the Dragons thoughts he heard footsteps plodding down the stairs towards him, he smirked. Already knowing who it would be by the footfalls, Gods knew what it would be this time around. But if Uther had managed to marry another troll...by all the gods he would die laughing and bring this castle down with him no matter what Merlin said. The Dragon smiled to himself a little wider thinking of how easily he could truly leave this wretched place.
He was already shaking his head when Merlin reached the bottom of the steps, there with his blasted torch once again. Merlin started right off with
"Arthur has run off again-there was this girl and-" He smiled as Merlin continued the story.
No. He must stay. He must stay and try to drill some sense into this thick warlocks skull.
