[set in series 2, before episode 4]

Connor shoved his key into the front door key, he was in a rush, "Abby?!" Connor ran up the stairs, two stairs at a time, "Abby, have you seen my phone? I can't find it anywhere?!" Connor called into the apartment. He dropped his keys on the table and threw a pile of magazines on the floor, pleading with whoever that his phone was somewhere underneath. He paused, "Abby? You here?"

No answer. Odd, Connor thought, he had sworn her car was parked outside, he straightened up, "Rex!" the prehistoric lizard landed on his shoulder instantaneously "Where's Abby?" Rex leaped into the air and glided up the stairs with Connor in close pursuit. Once he rounded the corner he saw Abby lead on the floor, unconscious. "ABBY!"

Connor dived to his knees and cupped her face in his hands, her eyes fluttered at his touch, "Con- Connor?" She whispered.

"I'm here, are you okay? Are you hurt? What happened?" Connor bombarded her with questions as she pulled herself into a sitting position, taking a sharp intake of breath as she did so.

"Connor," she started.

"Yes?"

"You absolute idiot! Why do you never clean up after yourself?" Connor retreated, confused, "I tripped over a pile of your dirty washing! Why can't you just put stuff away where it's supposed to go like I do?" Abby's sudden outburst of rage surprised Connor, momentarily preventing him from forming any words in his mouth."

"Uh, I- Um, I am so sorry Abby, I didn't mean to leave it there, I kinda just… forgot, I'm sorry, it won't happen again, are you sure you're okay? I'm so sorry Abby.." Connor couldn't bring himself to look her in the eye knowing he had hurt her, he felt so stupid, she was right, why didn't he just tidy up after himself?

"Connor," Abby nudged him on the chin, "look at me, it was an accident, I forgive you, now forget it okay?" Connor looked into her breathtakingly gorgeous eyes, how had he ended up with such an amazing friend? Friend…

Connor sighed, "I'm sorry Abby," Abby silenced him by placing a slender finger on his lips. He looked down again.

"Connor," she said it more slowly this time, leaning her head into his, "it's fine." She whispered. His breathing grew calm, Abby's head resting on his, their noses nearly touching. They were completely in sync, happy, peaceful even. Couldn't they stay like this forever? They both shared the same thought, and savoured the moment.

The two jumped at the feeling of vibrations coming from beneath them, Abby tugged at the pile of clothes beneath them to reveal Connor's phone, buzzing.

"It's Caroline.." Connor sighed. Abby closed her eyes, Connor had a girlfriend, she knew things couldn't go back to how they were, but how were things before? She didn't know, all she knew was what she wanted to happen, and it wasn't looking very likely.

"Yeah, um, I've got to feed Rex." Abby jumped to her feet, slightly dizzy, not from her fall, but from the feelings she was feeling for Connor right now, she brushed them away and beckoned for Rex to follow her down the stairs, just realising he had been watching the whole time.

Connor dropped his head. Great, thanks a bunch Caroline, he thought as he snatched his phone from the floor, answered it, and shuffled into his tip of a room.
