"Hello, my beautiful angel." came a smooth voice of Charlie Barken. Charlie walked with a strut, his head lifted and his chest puffed out as he walked in slow strides, a prickly rose in his mouth. By the looks, his muzzle dripped with blood from the rose's thorns as he griped it in his jaws. The roots hung from the rear of the lovely flower while white petals clung close to the german shepherd's lips. He gave a grin as he walked across the Golden Gate Bridge and right at the edge of the many railings was a slender and curvy Irish Setter with stormy green eyes.
She turned her head to the shepherd and smiled. Her stormy gaze drifted to the rose that pricked at Charlie's snout which was dappled with a bit of crimson like splatter paint art. "Is that for me?"
Charlie bowed his head like a knight would do for a queen, "Yes it is my lady," he smiled before dropping the rose. His dark eyes drew up slowly like the sunrise at dawn to her pretty face. Her lips tugged into a gentle smile while her face seemed to blush at the loving look in Charlie's usually hard and sly face.
"Thank you, Charlie," the beautiful Irish Setter said with her eyes lowering to the rose that lied softly in her wake. She lowered her head and took the thorny plant in her mouth and blushed as she gazed at the german shepherd, who's eyes never left her form. His dark eyes looked hungry as they stared at her, taking in every small detail. She blushed and sat down, her head tilted away from Charlie before he took a step closer to her, a hard lump formed in the shepherd's throat as he swallowed.
She felt her heart race as he stood close to her face. His eyes looked into hers and she just couldn't look away from him. His lips tugged into a gentle smile and he pricked his big ears that were lowered for a short heartbeat. The setter's tail wagged slowly as she sat with the rose in her jaws. Charlie put his muzzle to her cheek and the beautiful dog closed her emerald green eyes as his touch warmed her face. She felt so safe with him near. The world could vanish into the darkness of a monsoon but it didn't matter as long as Charlie was at her side. She rubbed her face near his chest and snuggled close to him, feeling her heart roar in her chest. The shepherd's eyes slowly closed and he whispered three words that always made the setter tingle inside from her puffy and long ears to the tips of her nails.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Charlie." she whispered.
Charlie touched his nose to hers and looked deeply into her eyes, those eyes that made him burn inside with pure joy. The setter didn't want to blink as she said, "Your such a modest knight,"
Charlie let another heartfelt smile spill onto his lips, "But, every queen needs her knight, Sasha."
With the moonlight gleaming down on the two lovers, Charlie gave Sasha a gentle kiss. Sasha closed her eyes and wished this moment to never end. The rose dropped from her mouth and landed gently near their feet. Sasha placed her paw on his, feeling loved for the first time since they'd met.
