I was curling my hair
while reading the news paper trying to find a totally awesome summer
job. Then, I saw one word that really made my eyes pop: Lifeguard. It
pays $50 an hour and you get free access to the wonderful country
club. Not just any country club, the one that all the rich kids at my
school, Franklin High, went to. It was beyond perfect. Plus, there
would be really cute guys there. So why not? The requirements were; 2
weeks of lifeguard training (we will give to you) and you need to
know CPR. Well, I already new this CPR stuff because the lady that I
babysat for made me take CPR class. So I was totally set.
I looked
at my iHome. Shoot. I thought. I have to get to Jamba Juice and meet
my best friend Carry. We both love that place. Plus, she works there
so we get employee discount. I quickly put on a jacket, grabbed my
keys and bag, and ran to my red Volvo.
Once I got to Jamba
Juice I saw Carry sitting down in a booth drinking her usual
StrawberrysWild. Next to her was my Caribbean Passion.
"Hey
Sofie!" Cary said to me with a wide smile and handled my my
drink.
I handed her two dollars, "Hey girl. You're not going
to believe what happened to me!"
I looked up and saw a really
cute guy about my age checking me out. Too bad I already was in love
with the most adorable guy ever!
"What? Tell me! Are you
pregnant?" she started to get out of her seat to slap me.
"No
you idiot! I found the best job ever!" I screeched really loudly
because some old lady with really gray hair looked at me and gave me
the stink eye. I guessed she was the library type.
"Oh my
god! Yay! Where? When? How much does it pay?" she asked clearly
excited.
"It's a lifeguard. It's at that snooty country club
where everyone goes at FH. 50 dollars and hour and I get to be a
member of the club. How great?"
She looked at me like I was
covered in gold, "Really great!"
I took a sip of my
smoothie and felt the mango sink in. It was so good. I felt like
nothing else was happening.
Suddenly, my phone rang.
"Hello?"
I answered.
"Hello Ms. Jackson. You're boyfriend, Kevin
Hilter, is in the hospital. HE had a very bad car crash and he's
still unconscious after 2 hours. Can you come down to the local
hospital and check him out?" a serious sounding lady
said.
"Yeah. No problem. I'll be right there," I said
with a very concerned tone, "Bye."
"Bye. Have a
good day."
Carry was looking at my while I grabbed all my
stuff and ran as fast as possible to the door. Carry new something
was wrong so she followed me and ran to her car. I new that this
wasn't going to be okay. Not okay at all.
