Bella stood there, frightened by the sudden anger Edward had toward her. The venom in his voice was unlike any she had ever heard, and it was the only verbal malice that had actually turned her on.

"Jacob, step away from my daughter."

Jacob threw his hands in surrender. "Edward, she's like she's frickin' eighteen, okay? She's allowed to date."

Edward balled his fists in anger. "Get the hell out of my house, dog."

"No freaking way, leech."

"If you so much as lay one paw on Nessie, I swear I'll--"

"You'll what? Hiss at me and bare you fangs? Puh-lease. You wouldn't dare, not with your wife being quite the friend to me."

Edward looked back at Bella, perhaps remembering how she'd hurt him when Jacob and Bella had kissed. "Bella, do you want our Nessie hanging around Jackass Jacob?"

Bella pursed her lips, unsure of what to say. "Jacob, you are like, nineteen years older than her, you do realize that, right?"

Jacob rolled his eyes. "I imprinted on her. I have no choice."

"Uh, yes you do," she said, not really wanting her daughter to go out with a man instead of a boy.

"Excuse me, Mom and Dad, Jacob," Nessie said, entering the room in a red gown obviously picked out by Alice. "But do I have any say in this?"

Edward ran his fingers through his hair, and Bella was staring at him, dying to do the same. "Yes, Nessie. Give us your opinion on the matter, as I'm sure it will conflict with Jacob's."

"Actually," Nessie said, smirking as she did. "It doesn't. I would like to go out with Jacob."
