Disclaimer: I do not own Elladan, Elrohir, Elrond, Celebrian, or Arwen. They belong to Professor Tolkien, and I shall put them back where I found them as soon as I'm done playing with them.
Simple Joys
It's the twilight hour. What little is left of the sun's warm light looks like a bright orange stripe against the purple velvet sky. And the stars seem to smile down upon this last of homely houses.
Inside, we watch five silhouettes gathered around a great fire. Two belong to adults, sitting on high-backed armchairs, the smaller one sitting on a large cushion that of a little girl. Two other boyish figures dance and chase each other around on the rug.
We are brought into this room, where two proud parents and an adoring baby sister listen to the antics of these young twin brothers. Reenacting the time when they tried to catch an Imp they had tracked for a good part of their day, the little sister screeched with delight when they tackled their unknowing prey (the role of which was played by a small pouf).
The father smiles, remembering a time oh so long ago, when he and his own brother went on such adventures. The mother also smiles, content that her boys are growing brave and strong, and with such a strong bond shared between both of them, and their little sister- Who at this very moment jumped off her seat to help her brothers wrestle the "Imp". The siblings tousled around until they were sure their prey had been defeated, then collapsed, exhausted, onto the rug, giggling madly.
Their mother and father smiled as they treasured these moments together. And as the fire crackled merrily, they held each other's hands.
Here, there was love enough to spare.
Author's Note: I wrote this little oneshot almost a year ago. I was browsing through some of my paperwork and found it crammed between some of my Theatre History notes. It made me smile, so I decided to share it with you all 3.
This fic was inspired by the song "Proteus Proposes" from the Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas soundtrack by Harry Gregson-Williams. Find it and listen to it while you read this!
The reason this fic is so short is because, during stressful times at school, I write oneshots in order to relax. I pick a song from my playlists, and whichever one sparks my creativity is the one I play, and this song happens to be just over a minute long. sweatdrop I will start posting longer stuff up soon, though! I promise!!
'Till next time, my dear Readers!
Legolas loves Lembas, I love reviews!
