Fire And The Flood
Chapter One
Golden light flooded through the glass ceiling engulfing the room in a warm glow. Graceful hands worked quickly brewing a potion that was a beautiful lavender color at the moment. Following the hands up the arms a very faded mark on the forearm showed. It was still there but so faded it hardly mattered to anyone anymore including the man who held it on his body. White sleeves of his button up shirt where pushed back in a uniformed manner. The man in question made sure that every movement he made was well planned out. His long hair was pulled back showing his thin face and dark eyes. The room was entirely different from the life that he had lived most of his life. The room reflected the life he had now chosen to live. The love he had allowed in. The simple gold band on his ring finger shown back at him. Gold. Gold like his wife. Gold like like the life he now had.
He turned and looked at the door way. His eyes landed on beautiful cream legs, He followed them up to the tan shorts and of course one of his white shirts. Her new favorite thing to wear. A gleam from her own gold band shown at him, her hands rested around a tea cups. He watched as she drew the cup up to her lips. She blew on the hot tea a moment before taking a sip. Golden brown eyes met his. "Good morning," He stated, a flick of his wand sent flasks moving in time to his work space and quickly and efficiently his potion separated into each bottle before moving to a box that was labeled.
"Finished another batch?" She inquired before moving further into the room and finding a seat near him.
"Yes, Almost fully stocked for the up coming holidays," He smiled down at her and placed a kiss on her forehead. He touched a piece of her hair and pushed it behind her ear. "You still don't mind the apothecary life?" He inquired slyly. Despite his wife constant reassurance that this was the life she wanted he was worried that this was not the life she wanted. Of course the two had plenty of money from the war and code cracking that she had done in her early age. He worried that the home life was too boring for his boosting Gryffindor. But she always reassured him that this was exactly the life she wanted and begged for. A life with him.
"Come now Severus, don't you think if it wasn't I would say so." Hermione giggled. This man who had shown her a life that was so much more then she ever imagined possible. He was her everything. When the Earth moved it was for him. Severus rolled his eyes at his young wife. She was young compared to him but it was obvious that the two had aged; quite gracefully- Hermione would mention every time they were needed at a Gala or event. Hermione's hair had grayed slightly in small area's just like her mothers, where Severus' hair stayed pitch black. Hermione joked she would be all gray before he even got his first glimpse.
"What are you thinking love?" Hermione looked up at her husband.
"Just worried about this children. Sebastian will be taking his NEWTS this year. I'm just worried he won't perform," Hermione took a large sip of her cup.
"What a silly thing to worry about. You know he will do exceptional. He is your son after all," Hermione smiled. Her favorite this about her husband was how much he worried about their children. There perfect children. Sebastian who was already 17 had just started his 7th year. A Gryffindor just like his mother. Bushy brown hair that no matter what the product his Aunt Ginny gave him he could not control it. Golden brown eyes that shown like their was no fear in the world. Tall but stocky. Intelligent and loving. He was exceptional at potion brewing and had been applying non stop to study abroad. Not that he didn't know his father was one of the best potioneers in the world. He wanted to experience the world like his parents had. He wanted to see the world.
The only other child in the family was Helen. A dark haired Slytherin beauty. She was cold and precise. She was on a war path and would succeed in ever endeavor. She had already been accepted to three apprenticeships and had only just started her 6th year. Always striving to learn more. She loved Arthimancy and Transfiguration. She wanted to crack codes like her mother had. She wanted to fight evil wizards and protect her family. She was the spitting imagine of her father with the loud unwavering heart of her mother.
Severus smiled before grabbing his wife's cup of tea and moving from the room. Hermione pouted for a moment before following him down the hallway. This home was the perfect representation of her life. The home that her husband had designed just for them. She felt warm to her core remembering the first time she had seen the blue prints for them. And how unsure he was when he told her of the childrens room not evening knowing if that was something that she wanted from him. What a silly man to not know how smitten she was with her husband. She found herself standing in the kitchen while Severus opened a window. A Falcon flew in dropping a letter on the dinning room table.
Hermione stepped up grabbing the letter and opening it. She let her eyes skim the letter for a moment. "It's a Gala. It's been 20 years since our visit to Egypt. They're inviting us back for a week to celebrate our... Well you know?" Hermione smiled.
"Well isn't that lovely. Twenty years..." Severus wondered out loud. "Has it been that long already?" Hermione smiled.
"It has... hard to believe we worked together so long before you realized you wanted to marry me," She said slyly.
"Witch don't start this now, sometimes men are slower then the woman,"
"Obviously," the brunette said in a mimic tone only resulting in a snort from her love. It was amazing that it had taken them so long to realize what was going on in their hearts.
