Uriah's POV
I am going to stay in Dauntless. I knew this since I was 2. I don't want to leave. Dauntless is my home, and my family. Zeke always told me that our dad chose Dauntless because the mankind fell apart because there wasn't enough teamwork. I agree.
"Uriah wake up! You're going to be late for the choosing ceremony." Zeke yells.
"UGHH" I reply.
"Fine then you're going to miss the dauntless cake I bought." Zeke says. I leap out of my bed.
"Coming!" I yell. I hear Zeke's laughter. Mom is making choosing breakfast. I only get it once a year, but I am pretty sure omelets are going to taste the same tomorrow too. I do my usual morning routine. I wear all black and I head to our kitchen. Marlene, Shauna, Lynn, and Zeke are already on the table. We got rid of our chairs 2 years ago. My brother states that it is more dauntless to sit on the table. May I say , it is not nice to have a burning hot plate on your lap.
"Where is Four?" I ask. They all laugh. Four isn't big on the whole family breakfast thing, but once in a while he drops by, and Zeke appreciates it when I ask. Also I want to get on his good side. After all he is a trainer.
The choosing ceremony goes by pretty fast. We have a stiff as a transfer this year. The last one we had was Four, two years ago. The thing is that Four looked like he could fit into dauntless. This girl does not.
"What's your name?" I ask her on the train. She hesitates. I laugh.
"Beatrice," she replies. Oh, I think. At least she can transfer that into something more dauntless. Like Bea. The whole ride is silent. I realize that we are nearing the dauntless headquarters.
"We have to jump off first." Lynn whispers. I nod. Then I stand up and jump out of the door. I land on the concrete floor. Right after Lynn jumps a couple other dauntless borns jumps. The initiates are shocked at first, but then they get the idea and jump. Max welcomes everyone and gives ta speech on the Dauntless. I heard this many times. It's kind of like the pledge. Then he asks for the first jumper. Almost all the dauntless born hands go up, but so does the stiffs. Max stares at the small gray figure at the back.
"The stiff." He says.. Beatrice walks toward the edge of the building, and closes her eyes. She leans in and then falls. Many gasp, but I know what is really under there. Then as if time froze for a minute there. Everyone cheers. The cheering dies down, and then I hear Four's loud voice. I don't hear exactly what he says but I do hear Tris. Good, the girl understood. I whisper Tris to myself. Nice, better than Bea. I am next to jump. Four reaches out his hand and I use it to help me get up. He smiles .
"Second isn't too bad." He says. Four knows that I wanted to be the first jumper. I have only been talking about for 2 months now.
"I don't mind." I say, and I realize that I was staring at Tris. Four tells me to move, and I do. That afternoon I see everything blurry. I think I might be falling for Tris.
Sorry for the shortness. I will update at ten reviews.
