Underground
x-x-x
Naomi's sorrowful eyes cut through Ryuzaki's large black ones as he placed his pale hands in the pockets of his loose jeans. The only thing separating them was the wide empty space that bore an endless trail of iron tracks. Drops of water from the leaking ceiling splashed into puddles around the place in nooks and corners. The atmosphere was cold and calm, going along well with the deserted area.
The two were standing underground in an abandoned subway tunnel, staring aimlessly at each other. Ryuzaki's hard gaze made Naomi Misora nervous but she refused to show it nevertheless. Her eyes held sustained contact with his for as long as she could with a straight face. To her, he was just Ryuzaki and nothing more.
Her hands lingered by her sides of her black leather pants as she pondered over whether to leave or to confront him. Her feet were firmly planted on the ground, refusing to move an inch towards the weird freak of a man.
Her cell phone was snugly placed in her jacket pocket, but her hand wanted to take it out and make a call to someone, L perhaps? The lifeless tunnel they stood in made her feel uncomfortable. She didn't know Ryuzaki personally, so how could she trust him in such a place like this, where anyone could take advantage of a women wandering alone at the closure of day?
A distant, but loud roar thundered through the end of the tunnel. Her chain of thoughts were broken as she peered over into the dark hole to see a pair of blinding white lights. An electric metro was approaching. She turned her attention back to Ryuzaki and sighed inwardly. She didn't know why she was still standing, she should have continued walking on her merry way. But she decided to stay put and stareā¦perhaps she was surprised to find him idly standing on the other side.
The roaring started to become outrageously boisterous and deafening. The next second, she found herself looking at a long, silver metro train rushing in between them. Through the rushing windows of the train, she saw fragments of Ryuzaki from the other side. The loud whooshing sound filled her mind as strands of her long black hair brushed past her face. Her clothes ruffled with the wind as well as engulfing her body into a cold state.
It was as if a minute had passed by when the train was finally out of sight. To her astonishment, she found that Ryuzaki was gone. Did he leave while the train was passing by? But where would he have gone? Or, did she just imagine she saw him standing there? She looked around to find sight of him, but didn't see anyone.
Naomi shook her head as if to get rid of the confusion and continued walking through the empty underground station filled with cluttered and heavy graffiti on the walls. Heading up the large, rusty stairwell that lead back to the city, she couldn't help it but to continuously look over her shoulder to see if he or someone else was standing behind her.
"It was my imagination, of course," she told her self in an inaudible whisper when she was among the crowd in the streets of LA. Before she was far away from the underground stairway, she peered back into the darkness to make sure no one was following her. When she saw nothing out of the ordinary, she sighed but stayed put. "Never am I going to take shortcuts again, I had enough of seeing that man."
