A/N: I am addicted to songfics. I am also addicted to youtube. I can't seem to find any decent Reno/Cloud videos, but some really amazing Cloud/Zack. So I spent about two hours last night on youtube watching Cloud/Zack, which are all incredibly depressing, but couldn't find one to one of my favorite songs, I Believe by Diamond Rio. And thus, a bunny was born. If you don't know the song, I suggest at least reading the lyrics, or else the lyrics at the end might seem a bit random. So here you go, my first Final Fantasy VII one shot. I personally think it's a bit short, and I tried to not make it too corny, but let me know what you think.
Disclaimer: As much as I would love to own Cloud, Zack, and all the other amazing characters, I don't. Bleh. Also, the lyrics italicized at the end belong to Diamond Rio.
I Believe
Cloud Strife lay on his side, hovering in that twilight stage between sleep and awake. This was his favorite time of day, after the troubles of the day that being Cloud Strife brought, and before he fell into a dead sleep, assuming the old nightmares didn't take him. It was during this time that his senses were heightened, that he could hear every sound in the room, could feel every change in the air, could feel him.
Cloud could feel his warm breath on his ear, hear the faintest of laughs, sense a comforting arm wrapped around his waist, and he knew Zack Fair had come back to him.
It only lasted thirty seconds, if Cloud was lucky, but it was all he needed to feel close to the passed SOLDIER again. In those few moments, Zack was alive again. Time would cease to pass, and would hold the two, lying together in a calm bliss. It only lasted a few moments, but it was enough to assure Cloud that he hadn't lost Zack, not really.
It was the sensation of being in Zack's arms again that allowed Cloud to finally drift off to sleep.
