So, I'm relatively new to this site, so I figured that there would be no better way to start to get acquainted with the place than to publish a story. So here's a short Thomas the Tank Engine story I wrote a while back. It takes place during Season 1 of the show. Thomas the Tank Engine and all its properties belong to Mattel; now enjoy!

It was a stormy day on the Island of Sodor, and all the engines were safe in their respective sheds. The Fat Controller had done the smart thing and had cancelled all trains due to the foul weather. Thomas, Percy, and Toby were locked up in Ffarquhar sheds, discussing the storm.

"Driver told me that the whole of Sodor is under a Tornado Watch." Percy said quietly. The storm hadn't reached the sheds yet, so Thomas and Toby heard him just fine.

Thomas rolled his eyes at Percy's statement. "Pah! I've beaten snow drifts and bad weather before. I can brave a tornado!"

"Do you even know what a tornado is?" Toby asked quietly.

"Ummm... no." Thomas replied, feeling a bit silly.

"A tornado occurs when cold air and hot air meet in a special way, creating a wild, out-of-control whirlwind that blows round and round, destroying everything that happens to be in its path. It could completely destroy Knapford Station; let alone a tiny tank engine like you." Toby explained. "I've seen one myself." Toby explained.

Percy was spooked by the explanation, but he tried his best not to show it. Thomas, on the other hand, wasn't listening. "I still think I could handle it." he puffed proudly. Toby audibly sighed.

By this time, the storm had reached Ffarquhar, and it was getting hard to hear anything any of the engines said to each other.

"It's getting really bad out there!" Toby yelled.

"Yea! It sounds like Gordon pulling the express, but ten times louder!" Thomas yelled back. Percy just sat in between the two, looking mortified.

Suddenly, the shed's roof started rattling, as if it was going to come off. All three engines closed their eyes and waited to be torn apart by the tornado. They could hear the roof ripping off and flying away. After five minutes of loud noises and tense waiting, everything became silent.

Thomas opened his eyes. "I-I'm still on the rails. I'm still on the rails!" he cheered. The other two engines opened their eyes and saw that no harm had come to them. They smiled.

"You see, Thomas? That was the power of a tornado." Toby said.

"I understand that now, Toby." Thomas replied cheerfully.

Percy, meanwhile, looked through the doors of the shed, at the yard in front of it. Rails were blown off, trucks had tipped of the tracks, and the coal chute had blown over. "We're gonna have a lot of work to do..." he groaned. The three engines then sat there in silence, looking at the disaster that they would have to clean up.
