" Obsession"

Onyx was troubled. He went from being the happiest he's ever been to completely obsessed. He kept training thinking he was rusty, and out of practice. He was oblivious to everything around him. He ignored everything and everyone. He was only improving his already superior ability in combat. His true purpose was to be well trained killer. He didn't like thinking about this, but he didn't like to feel helpless either. Him being kidnapped was an annoyance to him. He didn't want to feel helpless,out of practice, and he defiantly didn't want to make Pearl cry. He even went to the jungle where he was captured and improved his senses. When he called the gems it was only to beat him to a pulp. He wanted to see how long his physical form could last,and that pulled a strain on him. But, one day his training changed. The Crystal Gems finally decided to intervene.

" Onyx you need to take a break, and rest." Steven said.

" Yes, you need to stop projecting so much. You'll die out." Garnet said.

Onyx was breathing heavily,and was obviously exhausted. " What...do you...know?"

" Stop being so naive." Peridot said.

" We know how this can strain a gem. So just stop!" Pearl gabbed him, and their gems started to glow. Onyx was to weak to stop Pearl from fusing with him. His permission was no longer a necessity it was all up to Pearl. Pearl fused with Onyx so she could stop him from continuously harming himself.

" Now stop!" Diana said as if Pearl,and Onyx were not completely fused.

" No you stop I'm doing this for you." Diana said.

This conversation went on tile Onyx had the strength to defuse. The two laid across from each other.

" Stop saying that! If you were really doing this for me you would have stopped by now!" Pearl said angry with him.

" Pearl. I just didn't..." Onyx started.

" Didn't what!?" Pearl interrupting still steamed.

" Pearl I didn't want to see you cry anymore." Onyx said with as clear of a voice as he could manage.

Pearl froze " Why are you worried about me crying?" she asked her voice toning down.

" Pearl you know why." he looked up at her " I love you Pearl."

Pearl was paralyzed. Although they were both thinking it, and both felt the same way Onyx was the first to say it out loud. Steven looked like he was about to explode with joy. Onyx got up,and limped towards Pearl still weak from all the intense training. When Onyx got up to her he simply put his right hand on her cheek and Pearl was back to earth he then spoke to her.

" Pearl. I'm sorry I hurt you or scared you or whatever I did to make you feel this way. I've been trying to change for the better, but I've realized on more than one occasion that I can't do it alone."

" Onyx that wasn't like you. I just wanted you to be safe." Pearl said.

"Pearl you're the most important person in the universe to me. I'm never going to hurt you again." Onyx said tearing up.

Pearl started to tear up as well. She knew Onyx cared, but to hear those words made her feel like the luckiest gem to ever exist. She hugged him tight,and Onyx with what strength he had left hugged her back.

" It's alright just come inside and rest. Please?" Pearl said.

Onyx didn't want to be anymore of a burden so he walked up the stairs as Pearl was behind him encase he lost his balance. Onyx was mad at himself, but he realized that's what got him into this mess. So he brushed it off and decided to just forget about it. He was just going to hurt Pearl more if he blamed himself. So he apologized to the gems for the trouble,and let Pearl sit him down before he went inside his gem to recuperate.
